  1. I will be 39 when I start my nursing Program next fall, likely 41 when its all said and done...I've read plenty of other stories of both men and women pursuing Nursing later in life. I'm already coming from a healthcare field, but I'm looking forward to learning a new set of skills, working in new environments, and eventually obtaining a NP. Go for it!
  2. A few reasons...I'd like to experience working with a larger variety of patients and conditions, vs being limited to musculoskeletal problems...however, I do a fair amount of diet, lifestyle, nutrition, blood test etc, with many patients...but I am still working in a limited scope of practice. I have not fully decided to pursue a NP or DNP, but its certainly appealing. I like working with patients as a Chiro, but the business side of the career is a constant grind. Its easy to focus on sales, marketing, management, etc, more than patient care...and I don't even own the business. I've done enough research, and have talked to enough nurses to know that the profession comes with its own hassles and headaches, but in the long term, I like the idea of more career opportunities and variety than what I would do as a Chiro the rest of my career.
  3. @OP I know this is an older thread, and I don't know how often you are still on here, but I'm another Chiro pursuing an RN degree, and considering a NP down the road as well. I'd like to pick your brain about some of your experiences if you ever have a few moments. I guess I can't send messages on this site yet, but you can reach me at [email protected]. thanks!
  4. Does this program have an option for Part time students? or full time only?
  5. 37 and just getting started on pre-reqs...which I've taken all before, but its been over 10 years...looking to start BSN in 2018...
  6. @MIZ-DC I appreciate you replying back. You can email me at [email protected] and we can get in touch. Thanks for your time!
  7. Hello I am in the beginning process of looking into some nursing programs around St. Louis. I may be interested in the NHSC program to help pay for school. Does anyone know if there are NHSC approved facilities in the St. Louis area? Has anyone gone through the program? thanks
  8. @MIZ-DC...are you going to have any problems getting loans for the BSN program? I'm a Chiropractor in Missouri as well, and am interested in some of the accelerated programs, but I was not sure if I could get qualified to get more loans if I chose to go?
  9. beingthechange What type of hours were you able to work full time? I am looking into the program at UMSL, and was curious if its possible to work some part time hours? thanks
