-NURSING IN THE PHILIPPINES- Im also a Registered Nurse...with concern in my faithful profession....are you also a Nurse? "JOHN DOH" MY PUBLIC STATEMENT!!! When i started this ADVOCACY, all i wanted was: TO TRY TO UNITE THE NURSES SO WE CAN HELP OURSELVES BRING ABOUT CHANGE ON HOW SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT SEE US... I knew... I can be seen as the BIG EPAL for having touched this sensitive and prevailing issue... I can be criticized for taking the lead when i am just an ordinary nurse in the midst... I can be judged as someone with ulterior motive of something else... I can be "crucified" for making it appear "others" are not doing it because i have to do it... I can be asked the question, "what have i done for nursing." BUT I TOOK THE COURAGE TO INCITE MOVEMENT AND CALLED FOR UNITY.... I knew that... I can hurt those who have not done much enough to bring about change (even if i knew i wasnt sure if i can bring about change)...SORRY. I didnt mean to hurt! I can challenge action from who are supposed to be in the frontline of this (so they wake up that there is more in what they have to do than what is and what was)...MOVE before it is too late! I can be seen as a hero or a villain for taking this course... We can unite as we can divide, include as we can exclude, hurt as we can heal. WE WILL BE DEMOCRATIC TO SEE THE HOLISM FOR THE COMMON GOOD. I will NOT play hero...nor will I play savior! I will just be instrumental to transform the "i" to "US, the "me" to "WE!" This wasnt a reckless move! It was a strategic action so that... 1. UNITY OF THOSE WHO ARE WILLING CAN SHINE...(and im seeing it happen) 2. ACTION BY THOSE WHO ARE ACCOUNTABLE WHO MAY COME OUT AS THEY ARE CHALLENGED....(i expect and welcome this) 3. REPORTS OF THOSE WHO HAVE WORKED AND HAVE RESULTS TO SHOW SO SUCH THEY CAN MAKE PUBLIC...(we hunger to hear) 4. DISCUSSIONS FOR THE BEST SOLUTION CAN BE EXPLORED.(it has started and is so rich) In less than a week, i am making these conclusions: 1) NURSES CAN BE UNITED FOR ACTION (it is an inspiring development) 2) WE HAVE THE NUMBER TO BE STRONG (we need to grow more to be felt) 3) THE HURT OF THE NURSES IS DEEP AND MUCH (some are becoming emotional) 4) THEY ARE WILLING TO WORK (what you see is team effort and result of volunteerism in its non exploitative form) 5) THE PUBLIC IS THERE TO SUPPORT (more coming) 6) THE WORLD OF NURSES IS JUST ONE SMALL GLOBAL VILLAGE....(thanks social media) ...and more importantly, NURSES ARE WORTH FIGHTING (and even LIVING) FOR!!! We will WIN both the WAR and the BATTLE if we keep the NURSING SPIRIT ALIVE... And the LAMP ABLAZE!!! Mabuhay!!!
