  1. Hello, So for some background info, I graduated May '14, got my license June '14, was hired for medsurg/tele April '15 and was fired July '15 before my orientation ended. They sited that they didn't think I was ready to be alone on the floor and my orientation time was up. I started working SCI sub-acute rehab Feb '16 and I currently still work there. I am looking to get in to Labor and Delivery. A coworker's niece works on l&d and handed my resume to her manager and the manager said she would like to see med-surg experience. So now I am looking for med-surg opportunities. Do you think I should keep my very first job on the resume? My thoughts are it will only add more questions to my hire-ability. I've been submitting my resume for months to multiple hospitals for L&D and haven't been invited for an interview. I've been applying to med-surg positions about a month and no calls. Thanks all in advance!

  3. Should I email asking for clarification about the position first?
  4. Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this. So I'm currently unemployed with 3 months of nursing experience (fired in July) and 16 months graduated with my BSN. My aunt told me about a weekend position at her job (she's a nurse as well) and she told me it was full-time and her boss was looking for resumes. She sent my resume in and the manager emailed me the next day asking when i am available for an interview. Upon looking at their website I see that the open position is actually part-time, 5/6 weekends, and a one year commitment. I don't think I can swing this as I would have to take another part time position and most other positions require every other third weekend. I'm not sure how to email the manager back. My aunt said they're short staffed and might be willing to negotiate but as a new nurse with not so much experience I feel weird about making demands when i don't have a lot to offer. Thoughts and advice is appreciated. Thanks again.
  5. Hello everyone. I am a new BSN grad (graduated in May). I was wondering, do you think it's a good idea to get my PALS certification to increase my marketability? I already have BLS and I take ACLS on monday. Side note, is there a way to take an EMT-Basics courses in less than 6 months? Thank you for your input!
