  1. search for a group called "USF ABSN Class of 2016" the cover photo is a stethoscope
  2. i will try to make one tonight or tomorrow, i will update you when it is done and tell you how to join! we will probably be the only members for a while until we find more classmates!
  3. Should I brush up on my anatomy and phys before beginning my accelerated nursing program? If so what areas do you suggest i pay special attention to? Any advice for how to prepare for success in an accelerated program is appreciated!
  4. Im glad you found this helpful! I have no clue how full it is so far but I do know they take up to 30 students
  5. I am from the Black Hills of South Dakota, which is a 6 hour drive from Sioux Falls. The program is 15 months compared to the 12 month program through SDSU. The price was roughly 20,000 or so, which I believe was cheaper than the SDSU accelerated. Also from what I hear, because USF is 15 months they offer more breaks for Christmas, spring break, summer break etc which appealed to me versus the 12 months of little to no break.
  6. DISCLAIMER: I just changed my user name! :) haha BUT yeah I am from South Dakota, The accelerated program through SDSU is newer, but SDSU has had a nursing program for a long time so I would not have a single concern about the quality of education there. The town of Aberdeen on the other hand isn't the biggest or funnest town in SD but it would be easy to study if there is nothing else to do i guess lol. Sioux Falls is a bigger town so if that is what you like Sioux Falls is your place. SDSU is going to be a great education no matter what town you are in. If you are really unsure about the town of Aberdeen and are set in starting an accelerated program in January, check out the program I am going to at the university of sioux falls. They are accepting applications through October I believe!
  7. Just got accepted, just splurged on a mac book air! :) I had my old computer for 5 years so it was time...I also think I will splurge on getting a good stethoscope, from what I hear it just makes life easier in the end...
  8. I did my undergrad at SDSU it is the best school in South Dakota, IMO....GO JACKS! SDSU is notorious in this area for producing wonderful nurses. The standard nursing program through SDSU is rigorous from what I hear so I suspect the accelerated is just as difficult if not more. However, if you were accepted and chose to go through SDSU you could rest assured you would have a great nursing education, plenty of hands on experience, and come from a program with a good reputation. I am doing an accelerated program in Sioux Falls through USF because the program seemed to be a better fit for me, but SDSU produces great nurses!
  9. Hi nurses and fellow hopefuls! :) I am beginning an accelerated nursing program in January, so that gives me 4 months to stew about it and over analyze everything...I took anatomy and phys in undergrad 4 years ago and am worried I won't remember enough when nursing school starts. I plan to spend the next 4 months brushing up. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Are there parts of anatomy and phys that are more crucial to succeed in nursing school than others? How should I prepare myself for success? I would love some advice about this and anything else accelerated nursing school related! For example, what did you think was the most difficult class? what did you like or dislike? What are clinicals like in an accelerated program? Any insight you have I would love to hear it. Thank you! -Eager Beaver
  10. I tried to direct message you but I can't because I haven't been a member long enough, haven't had enough posts, etc... but anyway! if you would be interested in adding me on Facebook or something let me know! it would be nice to try to start a Facebook group and get familiar with our class before January if possible since we are all about to spend a lot of time with each other for 15 months :)
  11. I will be starting the accelerated nursing program at the university of Sioux Falls in January
