  1. I have been working in the NICU for a little over a year and I love my job. However, Im considering going back to school but Im not sure of what path I would like to take. I have been researching CRNA and NP programs but Im just torn between the two. I am just looking for advice from anyone that knows about either field of nursing. If working in either field, how did you make the decision that this is what you would like to do? what are pros and cons of each? and also, if anyone has worked the night shift and gone back to school, i am also interested in how you did this as well.
  2. No just 12 hour shifts. And I was orienting on days and I found that to be a little better for me. I was able to do things when I got home, and have time with my family and significant other. I was already adjusted to waking up early and not feeling drained. The parking situation in my area is worse in the morning because of street cleaning and the fact that I live around a university.
  3. Okay so, I'm a new nurse that just started working about three months ago. I was hired for a night position in the unit that I want to be in. My problem is that I don't think I can handle working night shifts. While I'm working I am able to stay up without a problem, however when I get home I'm wide awake but I know I need to sleep to go back to work that same night. It takes me about three hours just to fall asleep. Then when I wake up I find my self scrambling to prepare a meal and get my self up and showered for work. It makes me sort of depressed. I feel rushed, I feel like I can't do anything with my day. It also sucks because I live in the northern NJ/metro NYC area and commute in this area as well which takes away time for relaxation due to traffic. And this goes for both ways, coming and going to work. I also do not have a driveway and I live in a city so it takes me up to 30 mins to find a parking spot sometimes when I'm home. These little things take away time from my sleep and sometimes I just sleep from 10a to 4p. I sent a letter requesting a day position if one becomes available, but it also sucks because I enjoy working with the night shift more than the day shift and of course the differential makes a difference as well. Idk what I'm trying to get at here but does anyone get where I'm coming from? Advice?
  4. Thank you and I hope so!
  5. Thank you, both responses are correct. Idk I guess not finding a job for almost a year is really taking a toll on my self esteem
  6. I'm starting to become depressed. I had an interview at my dream hospital and dream position. The interview went well and I was in encouraged to follow up and ask questions that I couldnt think of during the interview. The interview was 3/6. On 3/9 I sent an email with a question and got a response. On 3/13 I did the same but this time no response. What is happening? I'm starting to feel sad, as if I'm being ignored. I don't know I guess I'm just frustrated because I've been out of school for a year and I just want to be a nicu nurse. That is my passion and that's where I want to be.
  7. That's all very true. Well she encouraged me to email her with questions. So maybe that's a good sign
  8. Thank you! I really hope that will happen to me! They told me to give them a week or two because they have other candidates, and if selected they would do a background/reference check before hiring me
  9. That makes me nervous. It took me 8 months after graduation to get this interview and it's where I want to be
  10. So about a week ago, I had an interview for a nicu nurse position. First I met with the nurse recruiter and that went well, then I had to go to the actual hospital to meet the nurse manager of the floor. The nurse recruiter asked me a bunch of questions and it went pretty well. The nurse manager just asked if I had experience and because I didn't she just asked why I wanted to work in the nicu and more about the position, the staff, situations she's seen on the floor, and about her personal experiences of having her children in the nicu. I never went to an interview like this that I was barely asked questions. I believed that both went well. If hired I would be getting a call this coming week. Anyone had experiences like this before?
  11. So I've been out of college since May 2014. And I've been working at a preschool as a teacher assistant for the past three and a half years. I've been applying to RN positions for months now and nothing back, until I received a call back from a local clinic in jersey city, nj . I'm a new grad with no nursing exp. I never received any calls for internships or jobs throughout college. Which puts me in this dilemma that I am in right now. Should I take the position? And what do you think my starting hourly rate or salary would be?
  12. I PASSSEDDDDDD :)
  13. I received the same thing. I should be getting my results in the morning. I'll keep you posted!
  14. Oh okay so I guess I have the possibility of passing because I wasn't charged and the cc info wouldn't submit because I "recently registered" for the exam?
  15. okay, yeah I didn't know how this new trick works. I guess because it's pretty new, no one is sure. And I'll be getting my results tomorrow. Pray for me!
  16. I don't get it
  17. I don't get it..
  18. I'm hoping so
  19. Hey so I took my nclex yesterday, and I was there for the entire 265 questions Anyways I'm posting this thread because I went home and tried to do the pvt and it led me to the cc page. At this moment I threw a tantrum because it was my second time taking the nclex and I put so much into studying for this test. However after I threw a tantrum I figured I might as well put my card info in since I'll have to register again. Stupid idea, I know. However, after I did this i got a message saying "our records have indicated that you recently scheduled this exam, another registration can't be made at this time". I know that's basically like the pop up you get if you passed. But I'm wondering if there was anyone else who put their cc info in as well, and got the same message and whether they passed or failed? I know risking that was dumb, so I don't need anyone else telling me that.
