  1. Hey guys, so I'm thinking of going into nursing someday soon and realize that there is a lot you can do with a BSN. I understand I probably would have to work for a year or two in a hospital before doing any crazy jobs or anything, but how common is it for nurses to work in a clinic with a 9-5 schedule? I hear Oil rigs, the military etc. also hire nurses with a much different employment package. Does anyone work any of these places? How do you like it? Is the pay/schedule/job better? I have volunteer experience and I like working in a hospital (especially if I'd be travel nursing) but what else is out there? I want something really wacky, a very exciting, off the beaten path job if you will. Thanks!
  2. Totally true, a lot of idiots online, the problem is they just see his GPA and don't really know anything else about him. I'm in a similar situation, I graduated with a 2.4 something due to one really bad year but have never taken any science courses, I also have volunteer experience and speak other languages so I hope to go back to school soon and do much better. To the OP, I would call the admissions office of schools and ask them what they think is the best thing to do. If you have experience in the medical field (EMT etc.) you have a much better chance at getting in.
  3. Hi guys! I'm looking to go into nursing and passionately love science. I've never taken any courses in the field really and my undergrad was totally unrelated. I did pretty bad, mainly due to one semester of health complications (my junior year) finishing up with a 2.42. If I took all of the necessary pre reqs and did very well (which I will) I should probably have a shot at at least some programs right? I speak several languages, have volunteer experience and I'm also a guy (my nurse friend says they like admitting men into nursing programs for diversity) I don't want to think that I screwed myself over because undergrad was a long time ago and I think it's pretty shallow of school to judge someone by it so many years later. Anyone else have any similar experiences? Thanks!
