Yeah, if I do the traditional track I will probably stay in Asheville too. I just don't want to have to move back and forth once the second year rolls around. I have gone back and forth on which program is best for me too - I would love to do the accelerated just because of less time in school but on the other hand the traditional gives summers off and chances to do international nursing as a student. I will be happy with either but my preferences do lie with the accelerated. I'm betting Monday for the letters - we haven't gotten an email yet today but I'm expecting one tomorrow - does the mail here in Asheville process so fast for it to be here on Saturday if they send it on Friday? Whew! I just can't wait!

We share a similar story! I looked back to when I first signed up to be a member with allnurses.com and it was back in 2005. I was half way through with my first undergrad degree and taking a nursing assistant course at the same time. It felt so right! I loved working with patients and I felt fulfilled about what I was doing. I decided to finish my undergrad in anthropology because I loved it too and wanted to get as much out of it as I could. I then came to realize nursing and anthropology make a great combo! When I graduated, I ended up landing a job working as a wilderness instructor (another love in my life) and did that for a couple of years - all the time coming to realize the role I usually picked up without even knowing it... taking care of people! So, with that line of working becoming increasingly exhausting (nomadic, hardly a life outside of the woods), I decided it was time to pick up and resume my pursuit of nursing. I am very excited that I have made it this far. Even though I always had nursing in the back of my head, for me it just took time until I knew I was ready to take the commitment. I recognize now that I naturally take care of people, no matter what line of work. I guess I just needed time to realize that is really who I am. I took the time to explore other things and came right back to nursing. Yay! So that is the WHY of nursing for me... and now, why WCU? I too want a BSN because I want to go on to gain my master's. I love the mountains here in WNC - I have been traveling up to this part of the country since I was a little girl and always have loved it. I finally moved up here when I got the job as a wilderness instructor and decided to stay. I too was pleased with the instructors I met at the interview and feel it would be a good match for me. Yes I got that email. I am glad they are going to give us some type of warning! I hope we get it before next week though, time is slipping by! If you get into the traditional program are you going to move down to Cullowhee or will you commute for the first year? I am trying to decide what seems like the best option... It's great getting to know you!!

The interview was more relaxed than I was anticipating, so that was relieving! Yeah I've met a few people who have already been accepted to ETSU - not the accelerated program but the traditional track. I am at the point of just wanting to know! Already checked my mail today and there was nothing. Maybe tomorrow! How did you get interested in nursing and why WCU?

Anthropology and Nursing?
I am currently a senior at the University of Florida majoring in Anthropology. I want to continue my education when I graduate by going to nursing school - but would most like integrate these two fields. Are there any nursing schools out there that integrate these two disciplines? Thank you! Brena

I got into University of Florida
Hello! :balloons: First off, congrats on getting in at UF!!!!:balloons: That is so exciting!! I am interested in applying to UF's Accelerated BSN program for summer of 07. I am currently debating whether to try and get my RN and finish my BA in anthropology (at the same time), or just get my BA and then wait for the accelerated program to start. How was the application process? How much does your GPA matter in comparison to your GRE score? Letter of intent? I know thats a lot of questions but I would greatly appreciate any knowledge you can share!! Thank you!

PCA moving to Asheville!
I will be graduating in May as a Patient Care Assistant in Florida and will be moving to Asheville NC soon after. I will be working for a year to gain residency and then plan to continue my nursing education. I had a few questions that I hope someone can help me out with... :) Do they have "PCAs" in NC or are they considered to be CNA II? Also, concerning reciprocity, do I need to take another exam in NC or just list with the NC boards? Id love to hear from people who work in the area their opinions on various hospitals... Thank you so much!! Brena
