NIGHT SHIFT
I agree with you! I try to rest/sleep as much as possible, I have a light dinner and...lots of coffee :) Anyway I think it is also a matter of experience and, above all, habit! Good luck for your job!

Pay for parking?
Hi! At my hospital, as well as that one where my wife works, there is a free parking lot for staff. Also at the previous hospital in whom I've worked I didn't pay for parking. I admit that I don't know the situation of others italian hospital but I've heard that in some hospital the parking lot isn't free. But when I was student I have had to pay for parking in the hospitals in whom I did internship (the university in whom I graduated has more hospitals where the students do their internship).

Unhealthy Habits of Nurses
It's true that nurses (as well as doctors, midwives, and so on) are humans as their patients and then they can have habits, so to speak, unhealthy, but is also true that from point of view of the patients this could be "disliked". For instance, how can I say that smoking is unhealthy if I smell like an ashtray? Having said that I don't take the liberty of judging nobody, I can only say that would be better set a good example even if not always this is possible.

Fake call outs irritate me
I start by saying that i don't know the US nursing work reality, but your post shows that the world is the same wherever you go...unfortunately we aren't all equal, there is not much one can do about it...

Remaining cordial with coworkers you dislike
I know very well what you mean. Usually i'm not able to hide my emotions, so if I dislike a situation, you understand it. But on workplace I'm and I must be professional and I have to work with other professionals, therefore for the good of the patient I'm cordial and professional with all members of team even if I dislike somebody of them. If the situation get worse I try to talk with he/she in order to solve or improve the work relationship, always, first of all, for the good of patient. (PS: excuse me for possible grammatical or writing mistakes)

I caused skin tear
You shouldn't be so hard with yourself, I can understand as you feel, you feel guilty but don't forget that accidents happen and, sometimes, happen even if we do all for avoid it! So, don't worry... "keep calm and carry on" :) (PS: excuse me for possible grammar and writing mistakes)

Two Dreams?
Hi! I start by saying that i don't know your reality (i don't know, for example, working load, working time, and so on). Having said that, i can tell you my experience and what I see/have seen. After graduated I did voluntary work for 4-5 yrs. I quit this activity primarily not because it was subtracting time to my family but because it was depriving me too time for other activities and other hobbies to which I didn't give up. However I personally know many nurses that, in addition to your work at hospital, devote your spare time to voluntary work and so on with no problem with their family. I hope I have answered your question. Good luck! (Excuse me for possible grammatical or writing mistakes)

Why did you become a nurse?
Before being a nurse I was a rescuer (in Italy the figure of paramedic on ambulances doesn't exist) but I desired have more skills and knowledge to help and to care people, so I have decided becoming nurse. Honestly the economic aspect played an important role in my decision as well, but it wasn't the primary aspect in my choice. (Excuse me for possible grammatical or writing mistakes)

Unobserved fall and I feel awful!
I agree with SoldierNurse22, I think that it is normal that you feel guilty but it is also true that you can't be everywhere in the same moment. Unfortunately those things happen, you has done all you can for avoid it but accident happens, therefore, in my opinion, you shouldn't blame yourself. PS: sorry for my english, i'm italian and i try to learn it :)
