Parental supervision on ped floors(m)
My child recently had a 5 day hospital stay. I feel it is important to be with my child 100% but I ran into a situation which I asked the nurse if she cared to stay with my child for 5-7 mins(at best) so I could run to the kitchen to get milk for my child who was all hooked up to varies wires. Was it wrong or rude of me to ask, I knew I wasn't going to have other family support for several hrs and my child needed to be fed. Nurse was compliant but I would imagine nurses already do enough and I'm sure they rather not "babysit" on top of their other duties. During this time the nurse was getting ready to do vitals and such and I thought it would be a good time to run out while my child was "supervised" even if it wasn't "family". For some reason I feel so guilty leaving my child for such a short time. The rest of the time someone was always there. I saw some children who didn't have family members with them and were really little. I don't know the circumstances but it was upsetting to me. Anyway do any of you get upset if a parent asks you to keep an eye on their child for a short time with a meaningful purpose? TIA

Question about surgical procedures(m)
That makes a lot of sense to keep things moving for the day, and that is what I actually thought when I arrived. Everything looked ready to go for me. The start of it all happened quickly, the changing into the gown, the urine sample, bp/temp check etc...I was impressed how many team members had asked my allergies/drug allergies too. My sister told me the term of what happened to my hand. She draws blood daily at a different hospital. She didn't give me the heat tip though. :)

Question about surgical procedures(m)
I guess b/c the soreness of my hand, my mind started thinking about that morning and second guessing if things were done properly. I have faith in my drs and their team otherwise I would have used a different hospital. Thanks again

Question about surgical procedures(m)
I'm actually a patient and had surgery a few days ago. My IV infilterated and my hand is puffy and sore still. How long does that take to heal? Also I was first case of my surgeon that morning and the IV pole and a bag was already in the room when I got there. Also a gown was on the bed with other things waiting for me. I suppose the nurses prepare the room before I entered but now I'm home thinking of things and I'm hoping that wasnt someone else IV bag from the prior day. If it was would I be at risk for any diseases? Thanks Endoblues
