Hi TootRN, Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am both nervous and excited about this potential journey. Given I would want to take things slowly especially since I've been out of school for quite some time - I wonder what other program opportunities should I look into? If you have any additional suggestions that come to mind please share. I wish you continued success in your career. Hi everyone *virtual hugs* I've been thinking about going back to school. I am in my early 30's, single and no kids...yet:) I have always loved the sciences although the first time around did not go so smoothly. I went from majoring in Bio Pre-med to Communications (big jump I know) as an undergrad. The biology and chemistry classes killed me. I have been out of school for several years now. I would like to give it a go-go yet again and pursue a degree in Nursing. My first love was always the sciences. I love children. I have always had a natural inclination to help others - sometimes to a fault. My areas of interest are NICU and Pediatrics. I am aware those particular areas are extremely competitive. I am open as I would have to start somewhere. I know it won't be easy - but what is? I want to work where everything I do as a whole has meaning (self-awareness of that meaning). I noticed in the healthcare industry that the most basic jobs require experience. Money is extremely tight right now. I am thinking that getting a job at a hospital would be a stepping stone in the right direction. I imagine once hired I could go from there. I am not sure where to get started. My end goal is to become an RN. I'm not sure if an ADN or BSN-accelerated program is the right choice. Since I've been out of school for a long time I would like to ease my way back into it. In terms of prerequisites I would most likely take 1 or 2 classes at a time depending on the requirement. I like to think ahead and plan somewhat. For starters, how do I get started with my prerequisites? Do I have to find a program that I would want to apply for (by program I mean nursing school) and then complete the prerequisites as needed before applying o that nursing school? I've read so much different information that it is rather overwhelming. Can someone help me get started? Thanks in advance for your help!!!
