I have just recertified this year with NCCHC for the second time. If you have a copy of the standards of care for prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities, you have a good start. If not I suggest you get them and have them open for the test. There are no 'technical nursing'questions per se. They are all mostly ethics questions. 10 really hard essay questions and a lot of multiple choice. I found out after I took the test that there is a publication which addresses the questions more appropriately, but I don't know where to tell you to get it. My supervisor, who is a CCHP showed it to me after I completed the test and sent it in. it's a small paperbacked book and I can't rememeber the name. I feel the material I was exposed to as a result of studying for the test has made me more aware of ethics regarding care to inmates, and I had been in corrections for 12 years. The continued resourse materials such as the quarterly journals and the 'news papers' that I recieve have definately made me a better caregiver, besides helping with delemas I've encountered over the years. Good Luck Susan B. RN CCHP Thank you so much Sashi!! I will round up that publication! Be Blessed, Carla
