Question about BC hospitals
I work at Surrey Memorial Hospital, and I love it there! Don't let other people influence your thoughts on any worksite...try it out for yourself there's no better way to find out if it's a good fit for you ( or not). Goodluck with your search.

Nursing home keeps spirits up with own pub
At the nursing home where I work, the Leisure/Activity department runs a Pub day every Saturday. Residents are provided with two drinks ( maximum), there's plenty of snacks and great entertainment as well! Families often come to attend and visit that day, everyone has a fabulous time! Our facility strives to cater to resident needs, I love working ther! SukiRN

Work in Van/Victoria Com/Public Health?
Hi Joey, sorry to hear about your back injury, hope you have a speedy recovery. In reply to your question, I think you might want to try other sources to help you find work in BC...one suggestion might be to try the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority website, and/or the Fraserhealth website, they list nursing positions for all areas of nursing ( including community nursing). I think you should be able to google the links, I'm not sure what they are, but they are out there. Goodluck...and Welcome Back to BC!!! SukiRN

TIMELINE for taking CRNE for US educated nurse
hi! I'm not sure whether this will be helpful to you, but I think your best bet might be to contact the nursing association in the province you are planning to work in...here in British Columbia, you would want to be directing your questions to the College of Registered Nurses, ( formerly known as Registered Nurses Association of B.C.). Goodluck with your endeavours!:typing SukiRN

BScN program out of University of Victoria
i am interested in getting my bachelors of science in nursing degree and am currently considering applying to the university of victoria, i'm wondering if any of you have taken their program and any info/experiences ( good/bad) that you could share with me would be appreciated. i graduated with my nursing diploma back in the 90's, and currently work full time therefore in all likelihood i would be taking this program part time...i think its called "option b" aka distance education. ( 7 years to complete the program) it's a little unnerving to think of going back for further education, but i'm committed to seeing it through. my long term goal is to be involved in nursing education...and i know i'll need to complete this degree and then go forward with a master's :imbar ( ...all in good time!) are there any other bscn programs that i could take on the lower mainland? thankyou & have a great day!

Ideas for a fun celebration for a colleague who is retiring...
Hi folks! this is my first post on this forum, and before I start I just want to thank everyone who has participated in this forum. I find it to be informative, funny, and the topics here are ones that I can absolutely relate to! And now to get to the meat of the matter; I have a colleague who will be retiring next year, and I am wondering if any of you have any ideas in terms of how to celebrate her retirement. It will most likely be a HUGE dinner get together with at least 50 people attending. I would like this to be a fun/memorable event , and am wondering if anyone has ideas of things we could do... What kinds of things have you done to celebrate a nurse who's about to retire...this person has been nursing in long term care for 40 years, she has a great sense of humor, so we want to send her off with a party she won't forget...any ideas that you have would be greatly appreciated , ( no matter how bizarre) Much Love! Sukie
