SJSU Fall 2015
Hi! I can only speak to applying as a 2nd Bacc student, not a transfer student from another college, but from what I have seen, most of the CA state schools have you apply to the college in the fall (Oct-Nov) and then you apply to the nursing program a bit later on (Jan-Feb of the following year). So you don't wait to hear from the college before you apply to nursing. The schools then let you know that getting in to the nursing program is contingent on being accepted to both the University AND the School of Nursing. Basically, if you receive an acceptance to one, but not the other, you're unfortunately not truly accepted. My biggest piece of advice is to find out when the different schools have info sessions and attend them as soon as possible. Even amongst the CA state schools there are a mix of different requirements. I ended up creating an excel spreadsheet to keep track of them all. Best of luck!

USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego)
Hello fellow MEPN Students! I'm a facebook novice (just created an account to join the USD MEPN group) - and requested to join the 2017 MEPN group. Is that all I need to do? or is there another step? Thanks!

USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego)
Hi Everyone! I sent in my deposit! Crazy to think that we'll really be starting nursing school this fall! I feel like I've been telling people that "I'm taking pre-reqs and applying" for years... I'm one of those strange folks not on facebook - so I'll get an account sometime this summer and join the group. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow classmate!

University of San Francisco MSN-CNL for non-nurses- Summer 2015
Hi all! Congrats to those that got in!! I received my letter about being on the wait-list today. :-/ But these things work out as they should, I suppose! sz1991 - apartment searching in SF can be a bit crazy at times, but from my experience craigslist is your best bet. I would suggest reaching out to fellow students on facebook (once a group is started for the cohort) and/or perhaps an AirBnB room or the like for a bit, and then you can be in the area while you're searching for options. Unfortunately it is pricey up here these days - with Studios often being around $1700-$2000 to start...and 1 BRs often going for above $3000/month. but if you're ok with sharing with 2-3 people in a larger apt, the prices can become reasonable again. I'm sure if you find some potential options and want to check the neighborhood out for safety/weather/overall feel that you could post here or on facebook and you'll get some good feedback! also - the surrounding areas are sometimes a bit cheaper. And while a commute in is never fun, there is public transportation for class days - and the clinical sites are all over the bay area, so the farther in to school you get, the less you may need to be in the actual city of SF. Best of luck to all!!

SJSU Fall 2015
I think that as long as your SJSU portal doesn't have anything on your "to do list" that you're good to go. And related to that - did people send their transcripts to both the School of Nursing AND SJSU admissions? I sent mine to the SON with my "nursing packet" according to the checklist, but only there. My "to do list" shows that my transcripts are still needed, but I'm not sure if I need to send them two sets? (assuming it's not too late) and my stats: Pre-req GPA: 4.0 (overall including 1st undergrad degree is 3.79) TEAS: 93 From what I've read Impaction Score is just pre-req gpa, correct? if so - Impaction Score: 8.04 Thanks!

University of San Francisco MSN-CNL for non-nurses- Summer 2015
Hi! I'm in a bit of a similar position as well - I've been accepted to one school (although have a bit of time until I have to put down a deposit), but want to hear from USF before I make a final decision. The official "word" is that we're supposed to hear 6-8 weeks after the Feb 1st deadline. So hopefully we'll get letters by the end of March, or the first week of April. I do know that some people put down a deposit to hold their spot (assuming that the money isn't prohibitive), and then if they get in to their first pick/other choice, just chalk up the lost deposit money as part of their overall nursing school costs. Congrats on getting in to nursing school! and good luck!

SFSU Fall 2015
Hi all! I applied to the BSN program (as a second degree). overall GPA: 3.89 prereq GPA: 4.0 TEAS: 93 I also applied to a bunch of other Bay Area schools (and 2 in San Diego). SFSUs cost really appeals to me... But I've heard rumors that their program isn't quite what it used to be. does anyone know someone that has recently gone through it?

USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego)
It was great to meet everyone! In some ways it makes me MORE nervous that we're supposed to hear kinda soon about acceptances. I had it in my head that it might be late March and so just tried to not think about it... but now I'm going to be counting the days! Good luck to all!! - Diane PS - is anyone else on here also applying to USF? If so, I'd love to chat with you about the programs - a compare/contrast of sorts...

Congrats to everyone who received a letter to interview! I just received my letter today (I live in SF), and will also be heading down to interview in February! Am excited and also a bit in awe that this is all really starting to happen. Seems like I've been taking classes and prepping for applications for so long, but now it's all getting very real! Has anyone heard details about what the interview is like? (Length, types of questions, etc) I look forward to meeting everyone! Diane

University of San Diego MEPN - overall program feedback
Hi! I'm with you that the Nursing CAS is pretty confusing! Can't say that I'm a fan of that system... and yes, USD does require a supplemental application. check out this link - it has 3 sections, a link to the main Nursing CAS system, a link to USD's supplemental application, and application instructions. Apply - Master's Entry Program in Nursing - Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science - University of San Diego The application instructions do a good job calling out the details of what items get uploaded to the two systems. And the TEAS isn't required for USD's MSN program (I think the TEAS is only required for BSN programs), but they say that if you don't feel very good about your GPA, you can take the GRE if you want to (but it's not required). Good luck with applications! Diane

University of San Diego MEPN - overall program feedback
Hello all! I am wrapping up my prereqs and plan to apply to nursing schools this fall. University of San Diego is high on my list (I'm originally from SD), but I don't know much about the program outside of what I have read on their website. I currently live in the bay area, and hope that I can come down to the info session in October, but that's just weeks before the application deadline! Given that - do any current students or fellow applicants have thoughts or feedback on the strengths and weaknesses USD's MPEN program? (for ex: I'm also looking at USF and their focus on clinical hours and hands-on skills labs is a big draw for me.) Thanks in advance!
