  1. I just realized there is a whole online course on blackboard/canelink that we are supposed to complete prior to orientation. It goes over everything we need to do. Has anybody heard anything about scholarships?
  2. Actually, I have gotten the general emails; they were in my junk email.
  3. I haven't received any general emails, just the initial acceptance packet. When I called the financial aid office, they said they send their stuff out in November.
  4. Has anyone received the nursing packet yet with the things we need to complete before January?
  5. For people who have received acceptance so far, has anybody received the acceptance packet from the school of nursing detailing what else we need to do before January? I know that we have to immunizations, BLS certification, and some other things, but I was not sure what I could go ahead and get a head start on. Do people who were previously in the program have any advice as to what to do before the program starts?
  6. I don't think there is a set deadline. I was told it was rolling admission and to get stuff in as soon as possible.
  7. Yes. There is a link for the facebook group on a previous posting.
  8. My letter from the University specifically stated that I was accepted to the Accelerated Nursing Program 2015. Is that what everybody else had on their acceptance letter?
  9. I decided not to go to Barry because I was accepted the University of Miami's program. Barry was going to make me retake quite a few courses I had already taken because I took them at the school I went to in Indianapolis. Good luck to those still applying!
  10. I know the university of Miami was having some issues with nursing cas showing as incomplete even though everything is turned in. They originally made the application as a grad school one instead of undergraduate.
  11. I applied 08.01 and my application was verified 08.12.
  12. Hey everyone! I just got an acceptance letter! It was in canelink showing as mailed out!
  13. At least we will know about their decisions in the coming weeks! Good luck to everyone who applied!
  14. I have also have not gotten a response from the university. They told me you need to apply for scholarships now, even if you don't know if you've been admitted. Is anyone applying for the one that includes a 36 month work commitment?
  15. Newhartc, Miami has definitely been a culture shock, but it is starting to grow on me.
  16. I'm new to Miami, originally from Indianapolis. I've been doing mostly volunteer work as a birth doula and shadowing midwives since I've been here, so I have some medical experience. My overall GPA is 3.90, pre-requisites 4.0. I'm hoping that will be good enough to get into the program. I moved here hoping it would help me get into the program and because South Florida has an amazing birthing community, which Indianapolis doesn't have. I'm really banking on getting into this program.
  17. Newhartc, Congrats on the acceptance! That is so great! I think I will go ahead and call them tomorrow to try and find out. I really, really, really want to get into this program. Out of other accelerated programs I applied to, this one is my dream choice. If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and other qualifications you submitted with your application?
  18. Newhartc, I received canelink and scholarship emails. I have not received anything official in regards to admission; however, whenever I've corresponded with admissions their responses have been positive. Did you straight out ask them whether or not you've been accepted?
  19. When I went to the information session, they just said classes in progress had to show up on your transcript. They said in the past they would send an acceptance letter with a pending notice: you are accepted under the conditions that your classes are finished before you start. What classes are you currently taking?
  20. Has anyone received any word yet on admissions?
  21. albi296, The registrar's report just said that I was in good standing with my previous university. It was a form with the common application. I filled out the common application before nursing cas opened up on 8.01.2014.
  22. albi296, I initially filled out the common application, so I did not receive any other notices from the registrar. I sent recommendation letters, transcripts, and registrar evaluations to the admissions office and then was told I needed to fill out NursingCas as well. This is the first year they are using nursingcas so I think they are still trying to work the system out.
  23. I also recommend looking at the Wynwood area for places. It is an up-and-coming area. Close walking distance to different restaurants, coffee shops, bars, etc. Apartments and housing around this area is very affordable.
  24. For those currently applying, has anyone had to provide syllabi for prerequisite classes?
