  1. Hello spudbunny, On exam day if you choose to go to campus it was an all day thing you would test in the morning and then have lecture afterwards. or if you took exam at home being supervised (proctored) then you could watch lecture via internet after exam. The only time it was a 2 day span was the first semester during welcoming orientation and that was it. Now remember visiting campus for exams started during health assessment for myself and then thereafter. It was always 2 exams (50 questions - multiple choice) and one comprehensive...The have just changed curriculum just take a look at it... UT Tyler Graduate Nursing | Family Nurse Practitioner Programs | FNP, PNP, NP, RN, MSN Let me know if this helps...or if I can answer anymore questions.
  2. Hi Want2bfree, I can tell you hands down the Leik book was a great resource... The AANP exam was not as difficult as some may think, I feel the biggest thing that kill people on the exam is anxiety. I found that there were no surprises on the exam, meaning that everything on the exam my program covered, so with that being said....just think it's all basic and entry level....what do you see and what you going to do about it, you are now in charge...remember unlike the ancc exam the aanp has no pictures it's 4 multiple choice answers and only one of them is right...all the questions are able to be broken down...know your maneuvers, s/s, tx options, and diagnostic test..hope this helps if not let me know I will try and compile so helpful info without breaking any laws....
  3. Hi DJFNP and everyone, I am proud to say I passed the AANP exam this morning (08/05/2014) and my anxiety has left the building. Thanks to everyone who listened and replied with encouraging thoughts and prayers. This chapter in my life is now closed and a new one is about to open. I wish everyone the best of luck and prayers be with yall. Kelley
  4. I apologize for any confusion. I have been studying an hour a two a day since May. I have just sat and started to really put things together without the hassle of practicum and school work since 7/18/2014. I took a review course in April and then another in July. I do have a job waiting with a signed contract. I have a husband who has lost all of his hair, because when I am stressed so is he (LOL) and three children who are depending on me to get through this. I never said I didn't pass the practice exams (scoring from 505-low 600's), I stated I didn't feel as if I knew the material when I took them. I think my anxiety tends to get the best of me. I am not for sure how good of a predictor any of the test are out there. I took the AANP Practice exam on 6/3/2014 and scored a 69% (which was passing). I think BostonRN13, I am just so overwhelmed and ready for this to be over and done:nailbiting:
  5. Hi Jennifer, I am a recent grad from UT Tyler FNP program (August 1, 2014) and wanted to try and answer some of your questions: What information can someone who is in the program provide as far as entrance rates? Entrance rates to the FNP program I am not quite for sure but can tell you pass rate for certification so far has been 100%. There are about 5-6 classes on campus per semester - this will happen more so during Diagnostics, Primary Health Assessment, Primary Care I, II, & III. Are any of those on Saturday - None of these will be on Saturday's. If I plan to do it part-time would it still be 5-6 per semester? Yes it would still be 5-6/ semester. Although I don't remember having that many campus visits. During Health assessment and primary care's you mainly visited campus for exams (and here recently they have moved to a proctor service that allows you to take exams at home with supervision), and check off's. It will not be possible to work FT unless you are hospital based working 3 days a week a off 4. M-F is not going to do it starting your 2nd-3rd year. Hopes this answers some of your questions and good luck!
  6. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.I am also using Leik's book and took Hollier review and I am finding the exam tips and the setup of the Leik book is awesome. I have really bad anxiety myself and at this point I am really ready to get this over with. I will share how this goes for me as soon as I test on 8/5. Please keep me lifted in prayer. Thanks again Kelley
  7. I have been studying for the AANP board exam since 07/18/2014 at least 10-12 hours per day. My test is August 5. I feel like I know the material and then when I take a practice exam I feel like I don't know the material. Maybe I need to take a break for 24 hours? I like to know is anyone else having this issue and when and what is considered too much studying?
