  1. I am a first semester nursing student with an active CNA and I am having a VERY hard time switching jobs and I just don't get it. My current job is a telemetry technician, monitoring central telemetry. Telemetry itself is not bad, but this particular job is. I want to leave for 3 reasons. 1. The alarm fatigue is BAD. Most tele centers I know of have their systems monitored regularly to make sure their staff doesn't get alarm fatigue so we still are sharp and catch events. This place does not. The system often alarms for no reason and is so old that the manufacturer doesn't even service these anymore. When boxes break, biomed can not order parts to fix them, they have to order parts off of eBay. I can't deal with this never ending false alarming. I almost had a panic attack one day because the noise was too overwhelming and I had to choke back tears and really concentrate on not freaking out. It may not seem like a lot, but it is when this is what you do for 3 days in a row every week. 2. This hospital system is incredibly unprofessional. I'm due to be able to transfer in December but I don't want anything to do with this health system. People can be off the monitors for hours at a time, nurses don't like to answer their phones, and patient information is often entered wrong in the system. There's no accountability and too much liability. I want to jet asap and be a tech somewhere else to help me get a new grad RN job, I'd never want one here. 3. Central telemetry more than likely won't aid me in getting a nursing job after graduation. There are no RN positions in central tele. I need to be back out on the floor somewhere and get myself in front a floor manager who will hire me as a nurse later. I used to work on the floor and I miss using my clinical skills. I also just found out that I am about 5 weeks pregnant with my first child and I need a healthier work environment. I shouldn't be having panic attacks at work. I felt so much healthier when I was working on the floor, both mentally and physically. I have pages and pages of applications to other jobs (mostly ER tech because my dream is to be an ER/Trauma nurse) and NOBODY has called me back. I don't get it. I have had 2.5 years as a PCT on a cardiac unit and cross training in tele for about a year and about 6 months on mother-baby. The only people that grab at me is central telemetry which I DO NOT want to do anymore. Not even the cardiac med surg positions call me back. Am I doing something wrong? I'm at a loss. Thank you in advance if anyone reads/answers this. I'm desperate and trying not to just up and quit my job!
  2. Oh ok I think I get it . Like for example I see two approved places on that list are mercy family health center in Mercy hospital in Chicago and some thing else inside of Mt. Sinai hospital . If I was offered a position at either of those hospitals in the ED , that would be approved?
  3. As for the facilities we are supposed to work at after graduation , does ANY HOSPITAL qualify as an appropriate area?? I read something about it having to be at a critical shortage facility and that hospitals fell under that category but then it mentioned something about having a score over 14. So I'm just not quite sure about that.
  4. I haven't heard anything yet either ): ugh
  5. Northside atl med/surg nurses have to wear navy blue, float pool has no restriction you can wear what you want
  6. So all the rejection letters haven't been sent out ? or are you saying they have sent all the rejections but haven't contacted people for all the interviews yet?
  7. Ok so I haven't received anything yet... so I'm chalking that up to a good sign. I'm still really nervous so hopefully this week ends without a rejection letter.
  8. I applied, did anyone get rejection letters yet? I'm nervous about it.
  9. I applied for Spring '17. Has any one received rejection letters yet? So nervous
  10. Yes I passed my test and everything . Its hard to do assisted living theres not many close to me and until the end of next month i must rely on my mom for transportation and I cant have her go too far . But I will keep looking !
  11. I just recently graduated from a CNA program :) and since then, I've been applying for jobs like a mad-woman. I actually was awarded a paid apprenticeship along with 11 other students (from a class of about 30, mind you), but it fell through. The hospital we did clinicals at wasn't hiring at the time. Since the ceremony though, a couple of my classmates have already gotten jobs, and quite honestly, I'm a little salty! I've applied to so many places and I feel as if my resume is pretty impressive and well put together for someone my age. How can I get a job ?? I'm really trying to get one fast because I'm starting college in the next month. 3 days ago I applied at a hospital about 11 minutes away from my house, and the day after it said "Under Consideration" under HR Status. Should I follow up? I'm trying to wait a week before I make any calls. I really want this job and I have a good feeling I could get it, so I want to do whatever possible to make it happen. Thanks for the help :)
