  1. You will find that out at orientation or via email before school starts. There's no way to find out before hand. You contact the nursing dept if needed.
  2. That's something you have to research. Tuition does change from year in some cases. COM is going to btw 6-8k for me but I started last year so that may change. Either way you won't find a ADN nursing program that is going to be super cheap most are about 8-10k and that's not including books, supplies, etc. that you will need. There is financial aid, loans, scholarships, or you may have to work part time while in the program. If you want to be a nurse, nursing school is going to be a sacrifice. In the end it'll be more than worth it.
  3. You should not be thinking about what the school looks like especially if you are trying to get your education and save money. I currently attend the program and it was a great decision. Tuition is cheap and you don't have to take expensive prereqs or entrance exams. Nursing program at COM is one of the best of the ADN programs in Texas. Look at and research all programs and make a decision based on what the school has to offer.
  4. We do have lectures, just not in every class. I do what I need to be successful and pass my classes. Tutoring session are very helpful
  5. You'll find out once you start the program. Ask that question at orientation as well because it varies.
  6. It's going well. All I have time to do is study and sleep when I can. It is A LOT of work. A lot. People told me that before I started nursing school and I thought oh it wont be that bad, but they were telling the truth. If you have the determination, you study, practice, and do everything as you're supposed to, you will succeed :)
  7. You're welcome. I'm not a morning person at all either plus I live an hour from the school so I had to be up for clinicals at 4am. It sucks but when you get there and start learning and interacting with patients, you forget you're tired. If you or any other students have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm only a first year but I'll try my best to answer any questions.
  8. You'll have to be up before 6am because clinicals start at 6 or 630am always. Classes are 8am. This is the current schedule. Get used to getting up early...welcome to nursing school :)
  9. I had something similar happen to me. I received an email with checklist and when orientation was. I emailed back stating I didn't get an acceptance letter and would like to get the acceptance email. They responded days later saying I was waitlisted and would find out by August 12th if I was in. I feel that this is very confusing and unorganized. From seeing everyone else's post on here and the confusion, I will be declining my spot. I've been accepted to anyone school already as well. Good luck to everyone!
  10. Thank you! I had only 1 class in progress when I applied which was History 2. The more classes you have done the better, it's true. A few students had all classes done when applying and they received acceptance notice before I did. They have go based upon grades since they don't require or look at entrance exam scores. Unfortunately, I declined and will be going to school in Texas where I live. Still feel free to ask any questions you may have. Good luck on applying and hope you get accepted!
  11. Ok. It'll be very helpful! Here's the link to be added once you make one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/404437343092234/
  12. Did you get added to the FB page? We are discussing everything there now. We have all ordered. It should a white top and red pants. Those are the only colors available.
  13. Ok I can add you once they accept you off the alternate list. Try calling them again to see what's going on.
  14. @olganava hopefully they give you a response when you call. did they send you the email that you were accepted?
  15. Woooow! I hate to hear that. You should be offered a spot for their mistake. Your scores are good and you should've been accepted. I would talk to someone about that. If not get guaranteed acceptance for Spring.
  16. You should call the school and ask about alternate status
  17. I think you're the only one. I requested the wrong one 😩 I'll approve you @trinatrt
  18. Ok page is up! It's under College of the Mainland ADN Class of Fall 2017. Here's the link just request to be added! If any trouble let me know and I can add you :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/404437343092234/
  19. Ok thanks everyone. If you see a Kendra Lawson that's me :)
  20. Ok I need first and last names to find everyone on Facebook, add you as a friend then add you to the group :) You can post or msg me.
  21. I can go ahead and get one started. Everyone can just post their first and last name so they can be added to the group or I can just post the link and everyone can join that way. I know a lot of students aren't on here so we can get more added at orientation as well.
  22. Welcome @kelseyosteen ! I think a FB page is a great idea! Would you like to start or I can get one together if you'd like. It'll be great for all of us to communicate during the program
  23. I agree! I want to be as organized and prepared as possible. Watching those videos has given me a lot of good info. I wish orientation was sooner than August, I'm anxious to start purchasing things and preparing.
  24. I think @angelboys mentioned this earlier, but there are some really awesome videos on YouTube about entering into nursing school, tips, advices, and must haves to survive nursing school and clinicals. I've been watching them for the last hour or so. Everyone should definitely check them out if interested!
