    Health Science Masters

Hello Everyone, I am wondering what I can do with a Masters in Health Science? What does a typical day look like? I'm interested in Psychiatric Nursing or just nursing in General. Someone in here suggested a MHS but I don't know what I can do with that or if I can work directly treating patients and Nursing. What are some branches of Health Science that I can go into? Please help. Thank you!

    Grad School Nightmare

Hi everyone, Sorry I been MIA from the site for a while. Got a lot on my plate. As you may recall I was debating between a Masters Program in Counseling or an RN to be a Psychiatric Nurse. I joined a MA in Educational Psych & I'm already dreading it. I'm considering dropping it. I don't want to make a wrong decision but I also want to do something I'm going to enjoy on the long run. The MA program is dry, repetitive of a lot of undergrad work and boring. Re-considering entering into a regular undergrad program just to get my RN so I can become a Psychiatric Nurse. I'm more into the Mental Health part than the educational part with adolescents and kids. My MA is not giving me that...... IDK what do you guys think? **** Scared and Confused.

    Career Frustrated

I am also looking into masters programs in psychology. The problems are 2: number one it is very expensive to get a MA in whatever field of psychology you pick. The second problem is that the pay of many mental health counselors is not that great. Plus I don't see myself all day in an office just counseling people. I want to be more active in helping people get their life together. Thank you for the complement of me having an "edge".:)

    Career Frustrated

Hey guys, I been MIA for a while but now that I'm back online I must admit, I am career tormented and frustrated. So a few months back I decided I wanted to become a psychiatric nurse. I still have this desire in my heart. However in the meantime I have a lot of downtime and often find myself beating myself up emotionally because I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology but can't find a job and the nursing program I'm interested in doesn't start anytime soon. I often wonder if I will get looked down upon by fellow psychologists when they see me on the path to mental health nursing instead of the typical everyone wants "masters degree in counseling". I don't want to be seen or treated as less than a mental health professional because I have chosen the nursing path. I love and admire nursing and nursing professionals. And I'm afraid of loosing that psychology edge I love so much as well. Please help, I am a compass with no direction and I'm frustrated with myself because although I want to be a psych nurse I don't want to be judged or looked as less in the mental health field....

Thank you! I want to work in a hospital unit. Do you know of any books that might be useful for me to get a heads up on the medical stuff I'm gonna face in Nursing School?

    Mental Health Nurse

I recently just graduated with my BA in Psychology and after long months of research, questions, and doubts about what I wanted to do after Undergraduate School, I have found my Nitch! I want to become a Mental Health Nurse. I love everything from the assessments, counseling, meds, diagnosis, and treatment, everything about it. I had once thought that not pursuing a Masters in Psychology made me less than the rest of mental health professionals and that I was not gonna be fulfilled/happy if I didn't become a counselor. However, now after careful research, talking to people and doing some internal soul searching; I have come to love Psychiatric nursing. Psychiatric Nursing is giving me more opportunities and fulfillment than counseling alone ever would. What do you guys think about how I felt about this before I decided on pursuing this?? I had really felt ashamed of myself because I wasn't planning on going for a MA in Psych but now I know I don't need a MA in Psych to be the best caregiver I can be with mentally ill patients. My question to you now is, do you guys know of any accelerated RN or BSN programs in Massachusetts that I can pursue this degree in?? I have a great community college in mind, but If I could go for my BSN in less than 2 years that would be great! Also do you guys know of any Psychiatric Nursing books and Anatomy and Physiology books that could help me on this journey ill be starting next Spring.
