  1. Hi I was in a similar situation. I hadn't worked on med surg for about a year also but I do have 7 yrs rn cardiac Tele/ med surg experience. Freshen up on more common surgeries your floor deals with then when you get report from the Pacu nurse you can ask them questions and they are great and usually helpful. It's all basically the same. Monitor for internal bleeding, bleeding from incisional sites, pain, infection, electrolyte imbalances, heart irregularities, respiratory status, urine output, it is still about homeostasis, and pt comfort. Just so you know even nurses with years of experience still ask other nurses questions. I did on my floor and when your charge nurse tells you your getting a fresh post op and tell u the surgery they had you can look up info you need to freshen up on. You'll do great!
  2. I honestly think this is one battle to let go. Most hospitals anymore won't pay for us nurses to come in early. So why should we. I grab stickers from charts then get report. Then I look up the pts info. In my floor we all do this except for the new grads. I've had nurses so bent on getting the kardex info first as a result I end up going home late.
  3. Ya I agree with you. I always have to give patient names to oncoming nurses. I don't think it's a big deal at all. After they get report then it's time to look up stuff. Our floor doesn't pay for coming in early so why should they.
  4. Sounds like your a recruiter lol.
  5. I'm traveling to Grand Junction, Co. Can anyone tell me past pay they've been offered by travel companies so I can compare. I have 3 yrs travel experience and am working as a float nurse at the biggest hospital. Thank you.
  6. Hi Im trying to find out if the company Im with is offering me a fair rate for a Travel assignment in Grand Junction Co. I will be a float RN for the biggest Hospital in town. He offered me 33/hr. this would be the lowest by far Ive ever been offered for a travel assignment. He stated the pay rate is low and thats why this assignment was still available. Ive never worked for less then 38/hr. I just need to find out if this is fair or is he being greedy. I have not signed contract as of yet. Please let me know if anyone knows what the rates are for regular staff nurses with 6yrs experience and travel nurses. Thank you!
