  1. Its a long story but I failed my last nursing exam in med surg my 4th semester I ended with a 79.5 average in the class and needed an 80. I had B's in all my other classes. Unfortunately I had allot going on at the time and I let it affect my studies last May. Without going into allot of details I was given the opportunity to take the LPN boards by endorsement, which means my school wrote a letter stating I had more than enough credits for LPN and 129 hours of preceptorship. I had 2 weeks to learn to be an LPN after 2 years of learning to be an RN. (RN ATI NCLEX predictor score of 98%) I passed the LPN boards with no problem. I want to finish my RN without having to go through a classroom all over again. I excel as a online student as I'm older (56) and feel the excelsior would be a good fit. Thank you for your honesty.
  2. I failed out of the RN program. I was able to get my LPN by endorsement in my state of SC. I want to complete my RN online and was wondering who has gone through Excelsior or any other online school to receive their degree ?
  3. Age is just a number ! I will be 55 when I graduate next May. I believe that employment will not be an issue either because you will handle difficult situations with ease. Something that a young grad can't quite grasp. Go for it and I wish you the best of luck !! You will do well !!
  4. I want to thank you all for your advice ! I listened to each one of you and now have an interview for a Nurse extern position .
  5. Thank you for your honesty !
  6. I have been applying to hospitals. I am a jr. nursing student so I have logged in many clinical hours in the areas of med surg.( wound care, Pacu, OR, ect ) labor and delivery , and nursing home care. I even have volunteer hours. I have listed all of this on my resume.. Thanks for you help !
  7. Thank you so much ! I do try to present a younger. Most people think I am in my late 30's which I guess is good when it comes to the workforce. I will do everything I can to take your advice !!
  8. No interviews yet. But all the applications I have filled out have ask my birthdate, race and date I finished Highschool. I am just hoping that because I was called into nursing a little later in life that my age won't hurt be in finding a job. Unfortunately one of my classmates is having the same issue and she 's 42. If you or anyone else has any ideas to help us get hired as a Nursing Tech or even later as a RN after we graduate next May it will be gratly appreciated.
  9. I am an older nursing student and have been applying to many jobs as a Patient Care Tech. So far nothing ! I am hoping my age is not a factor concerning being hired, I am 54. Can anyone give me some advice on landing a job in this area? Thanks !!
  10. Thanks Cakers45 !! I have had most of my immunizations done at the office where I work. I have registered online with the background ck. Going to Lab Core on Friday for lab work. Allot to do in such a short amount of time.
  11. I am in too !!! Nursing here we come..
  12. :-( I was told letters went out Monday afternoon..
  13. Woo Hoo !! Thanks cakers45 !! I cannot wait !!
  14. I got my call today too!! Does this mean we are in??? I told them I preferred the RN program.
  15. It's hard not to worry.. and be excited at the same time.Rodenboo, I think I read in one of your post where you thought you were older than most students.. Around the age of 45?? If this is so, I want to encourage you by letting you know you are YOUNG.. I am 53 starting this process. I love every moment and feel as though for the first time in my life, I have a purpose !
