Returning to nursing after a long absence (5-year)
Hi! Great news for having you back in states. There seems a lot going on but in my humble opinion, this will make your recruiter confused for a bit. Although you have had a year of experience, it's been 5years-correct? Then, you can use the PhD as an alternative explanation. However, the PhD will somehow make them wonder if you are over qualified or underqualified for the job. As you said, you didn't get to finish it then, it's up to the recruiter and you to come up with terms. In short; it's confusing and may raise some questions but overall, it still depends on how you present yourself. Hope you get a nursing job soon!

BSN degree with no RN license
Since you have bachelors, you can try taking Dentistry instead, if you can take up loans and such. If you have interest in computer science, take classes and get BSCS. Then nursing infomatics. Maybe you also consider taking refresher course towards another chance for NCLEX down the road. I heard that too, taking NCLEX PN instead although I don't know about this one. Anyhow, What I heard was, LPN and RN nclex starting to get more difficult than recent years. I hope you can find what path to take soon. Good luck.

It's pretty much my decision not to take the exam right away. They encourage to study the notes again until you're confident enough for the exam.

took me 3weeks more to study before taking the exam.

Yes! I'm excited to say that I'm Registered Nurse now. Just waiting for my license number. Their review materials worked for me and if you want organized topics to study i think it will work for you too. Just refrain from using other reviewer materials when you decided to go for excell.

Is this Patient Abandonment?
No endorsement/no keys, nurse can't leave. You then "seems" assume all responsibility.. Strict personal bounderies will do you a favor in a long run..

Problems with Prioritization Concept
that's what my instructor keeps on telling. Who goes to morgue first and the fastest is the priority..but without the concept...they pretty much looks like either going all to morgue or they can all wait.

Bad "pop-up" :(
I'm currently attending excell review.

Bad "pop-up" :(
I'm sorry to hear that. but you're getting there. get a clear view with the concepts and with SATA, you really need to have a mental picture of the patient. That's how we taught in review class. Beating up yourself won't do good. I know the feeling but get going and keep your gears up. There's no success if there's no failure.

Problems with Prioritization Concept
wow.. that's a very clear concept BrittyRN.. i liked it the way you put it. I'm still working on this but in much clearer side now. rob4546 yes I believe it too that there's no trick in NCLEX. It's either you know it or just guessing. I may be far but slowly getting there. ^_^

Problems with Prioritization Concept
I'm currently attending a review class, it seems easy when I listen to the instructors how to prioritize. But when it comes to practice questions, I get lost in the concept. I'm using LaCharity book for practice questions. Is there anyway to grasp the concept much clearly? And solid understanding what to actually look for? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

@(ivy-strawberry) I just read some testimonies on the net and decided based on that. Taking NCLEX twice made me realize that topics aren't that hard. Choosing the right answer are. Most of the time, all answers were correct but which one. That's why I'm going to excell they might help me figure it out.

Bad "pop-up" :(
My experience.. It's 100% true. When that "bad pop-up" on the screen. It's failed. I'm broken twice. I still praying that 3rd time is a charm.. I hope yours will be those very few that passed even after that bad pop-up..

Hi, I'm trying excell nursing review here in Chicago next week. I'm also wondering if what they claim happens to be true. One way to find out. Good luck to us. Afterall, it's do or die for me now. August is my last chance to take NCLEX.. That 3year validity sucks.
