Well I was just sharing the laughing experience we had in the unit. I just thank God it did not turn the way you think it will be but we were blessed and good things happen unexpectedly.

It was a special request from the patient that she wanted her Neurosurgeon to remove the staples and of course she was pampered by her doctor.

I remembered during my time when I was doing my Charge Nursing 10 yrs ago. I was In-charge of 33 patients with only 4 bedside nurses who were all novice. Before the Neurosurgeon made his rounds he told me to prepare sterile staple remover. Unfortunately when the time he made his rounds I was attending to a patient raising a concern to one of my nurses. When I came back in the station, I saw my strict Neurosurgeon laughing out loud and he was into tears laughing and I said why are you laughing? He said one of my bedside nurse attended to him and he asked at the patient bedside of the staple remover he requested and my nurse hurriedly came to him sweating with the staple remover we used to have in the office. Well I said to our Neurosurgeon "Doctor, I am so sorry for what happened. Well we just made your day and next time we will give you our office scissors so don't forget to request for that hahaha..." After that funny incident, our Neurosurgeon became so cool and he does not give us a hard time anymore. Truly funny but it changes the professional relationship better with that staple remover.

I was assigned before in Medical Surgical unit and held a position for 6 yrs in Nursing Administration. I was actually looking for a job in a Medical Surgical Unit but what they were looking is those nurses with current experience. I don't have the guts to apply for Nurse Manager position because I am new and need a lot of clinical experience to make me fully qualified for that position. Thank you steppybay!

Good for those who have connections they can easily find jobs but those who don't have, we need a lot of effort and grab every opprotunity that comes our way. Anyway, thank you and congratulations you have a job! Yehey! Good luck RunBabyRun!

I worked as a Nurse for 14 yrs in the Philippines and last year migrated here in US. I took the NCLEX last Jan of this year and fortunately I passed. Now I am currently looking for a job preferably in a hospital but if not lucky enough I will apply to options you have given. Thank you for replying @steppybay!

I am a Filipino migrated last year here in US and currently based in LA. After A success of passing NCLEX for the first take last February, I was so excited to start my nursing career here in CA and immediately apply online to every hospitals here in LA and 40% of it already replied and informing me that they chose someone more qualified than I am without given me a chance to be interviewed. Sounds frustrating but keeping the faith that I will find the right job for me. Is it really difficult to find a hospital job here in California? Thank you!
