Yes, it's very sad how nurses are treated. What you have described is a situation that I have seen in every State I have worked, that is CA, MO, NY. Doctors, administrators, managers, patients, the whole thing... It really is a disgrace that a profession of service, like ours, receives so very little appreciation! Unfortunately, as I said, I have seen this all over. Once in a while, you can find a manager that - at least - makes an effort to support our needs.... However, so far, I have only found that once!... Still, we do our job as best we can... Thanks for taking the time to write back :)

You have described a PRN position, where you get called as the need arises. PD is different. You usually agree to a certain number of days, for instance to fill a vacancy if a clinician is off work, etc... or to fill a position for a short specific amount of time... But it all boils down to whatever your employer wants... I think... If you agree with the pay and conditions of employment, right? What would be the alternative?

I have seen bits comments in the past about this topic, but they all go back to 4-5 years ago... I am relocating to Southwest Florida, and I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of the rate of pay for FT experienced RNs. I have a BSN and I am Trauma Certified. I have worked in all fields of nursing except LD, mostly worked in ICU/PCU, but I'm not sure I want to continue acute care. Possibly considering Per Diem... or even and office RN position... I would appreciate comments about pay, and/or best/worse employers in the area... (allowing for "individual" experience, of course :)) Thank you so much in advance to my fellow nurses, for any contribution, both here with your comments, and at work, with your profession!
