Thanks for the replies everyone. And good luck to all! :-) I went to a Q&A session at the community college (Santa Fe) here in Gainesville last summer; Ken Foote gave a short spiel on UF's program. He said letters of recommendation are not required, but the admissions board will read them if submitted. I have 2 letters from M.D.'s that I work with, and 1 from the department chair of physiology at UF's College of Medicine (PhD). I've worked in biomedical research for 7 years, the past 4 of which I've managed the animal research surgery facility here at UF; doing everything from intubation, IV catheters, and running anesthesia for lung transplants and trauma labs, to performing difficult vascular access surgery, vessel ligations, and skin closure in pediatric swine. I'll also be published in a medical journal as a full author with the doctor who I've done surgeries for. My cumulative GPA is a little low at 3.7 (I had one bad semester 10 years ago at Texas A&M), but have essentially gotten straight A's since going back to school in 2010. Pre-req GPA is a 3.9x. I know they really look hard at GPA, so I'm hoping my experience can override that bad semester.

For other transfer applicants: what kind of working experience do you have? Did anyone else submit letters of rec? I'm in Gainesville so hoping to know in the next day or two. The wait has been killing me!
