  1. That is not a true statement! Level IV NICU's are not that common!
  2. It depends on the level of thi NICU because our NICU doesn't have feeder/growers those would be sent to a different unit.
  3. Maybe nurses are the real doctors. How about that for a thought. If you have 20 patients and 2 doctors without nurses, or 20 patients wit 2 Nurses and no doctor. Who has the better outcome? I'd say the nurses.
  4. Clinical experience gets you 5 extra points and military gets you 5 extra points! That's how they rate the apps...by points. And it's not a lot of points so it's a big deal! The shadowing/volunteering are interchangeable and the total points you get for your resume and volunteering I believe is 3 combined. That's why it's such a big deal to get the clinical experience in somehow.
  5. Hey there! The best advice I can give you is get some sort of clinical experience. This is my first semester In the program and out of our cohort of 80, well 79 now, we have only about 8 people who have not worked as a pct. The second best advice I can give you is to have a Science GPA OF 3.5 I wouldn't go lower than 3.5 unless you get in with your last bit of pre reqs incomplete because they only require a C or greater if your courses are in session and the decision is made before you Finnish. So retake any sciences that you can. Email Mardi Long to ask if the sciences will be picked by the better grade. I know that Micro, A&P 1-2, are required and the last is just another lab science.
  6. Did you join facebook group crystal? I'm heading there Monday to check room rentals out.
  7. If youcNget a job as a patient tech or something like that... Musc hires a lot if you are in the area. I was not. I just had shadowing which is why I was only an alternate at first but then I got in however I had to defer to the fall. Also CNA if you could do that.
  8. I think Carolyn. Paige sorry took me long enough right
  9. It is a point systems d I don't know all exactly it's like 20 points for cGPA 10 points for science GPA 3 points for volunteer I think 3 -5 for essay and the resume i do believe that's about it but then you get a extra 5 points if u have clinical/hospital or military experience This may not be perfect but it's close I know!!
  10. Also apply for spring semester! It has a lot less applicants! I can not wait for AUGUST í ½í¸
  11. My cGPA was 3.57. I was accepted as an alternate. I got all of the points for my resume and volunteering. Shadowing counts as volunteering as well. I had been CPR certified which is a plus also. There were people who had a lower GPA 3.0 and 3.1 who got in to the program ahead of me because they had clinical experience And military. I got a call back 3 days after they were accepting people and told I was accepted if I wanted the spot still!
  12. May I give you some advice... Military or job clinical experience is the best thing you can have!! They will tell you GPA BUT THERE ARE 5 extra points for military/job clinical exp that I didn't even know about. And this is apart from volunteering...
  13. What's the facebook page?
  14. I would prob take u up I the room but it wouldn't be just me. how much is it anyways I remember you saying something anout it in the spring forum as we were both accepted then lol
  15. Hi I'm Emily! I was accepted into the program in the spring but had to defer my enrollment due to a tragedy. Iwill be attending in the fall even though we have no idea how we are gonna live out there. Some advice, alternates, many of you will get in so keep close to your phone and email, as it is first to accept first to be accepted there isn't really a ranking system with alternates. Also, spring has half the applicants as fall so if you don't get in at least give it one more shot!
