Hello, I work for a level II adult and pediatric trauma center that sees approximately 93,000 patients annually. I am looking for other organizations who can tell me the following information: For ER orientation, how many weeks is your orientation for: 1. Graduate nurses 2. Seasoned ER nurses 3. Season RN's from other areas in the hospital Thank you for your time!

Triage process: we have a greeter (EMT-B) and a lead triage nurse who triage the patients (need to go to a room immediately vs being triaged in the triage area) Fast-Track: Open 11a-2a; takes low acuity patients Vertical (similiar to physician office rooms): Open Mon-Thurs, 2p-10p - takes extremely low acuity patients (i.e. medication refills) CDU: 24 hour observation unit, 15 beds plus a 4 chair infusion area Currently desigined a geriatric ED area (9 beds), have a pediatric area (open 9a-2a) 12 beds, a trauma/critical care side (open 24/7) and a med/surg/psych/ob side (open 24/7) Staffing increases at 11a & 2a to accomadate open areas and increase in volume ED yearly visits: 85,000+

Hello- Do any of your emergency departments have a dedicated discharge area? We are looking to implement an area that we can move patients to be discharged, therefore opening up a patient room and also not rushing the patient through the discharge process. This will allow a nurse to get vitals, answer questions, and ensure all charting is completed without feeling rushed to get a new patient into the room. If you have an area similiar to this, could you please answer the following questions: 1. Would you be willing to share your discharge policy/procedure/guideline? 2. What hours do you utilize this area? 24/7 or just during peak hours? 3. What is your daily or yearly patient volume? I am sure I will have more questions, but can't think of any at this time!
