Begin volunteering immediately in nursing related areas such as hospice, the VA, the major hospitals in this area, and maybe even behavioral health facilities (I've always had an interest in psych). 3. Broaden my job search and begin applying for any type of job that involves care-taking or working in a medical setting " Your plan looks good. I will add to search Indeed.com for jobs. Maybe some schools will offer refresher courses to keep up with skills, it might be worth to check this out. One instructor told me "Focus in your strength, not in your weakness" You are an RN and have all the decisiveness to continue plus the inspiration for having a great family. Thank you to AN for all the support. I signed up for a job in a LTC facility. My very first and dream job. After applications to hospitals were submitted and waiting for a call, I got a job. While submitting the application online, I received the call to schedule an interview. I was so nervous just thinking about the interview. I prepared my resume. I make sure my appearance was professional and make sure to be there on time. A prayer, kiss from my hubby and head for the interview. I signed some papers and by the way the interview was conducted, I started thinking "They are going to hire me". The interview, the tour and meeting the administrative personnel they told me "Welcome" It was a A+ exam result kind of feeling. I am so happy and I wanted to share this feeling to AN. Thank you for your wise and kind words. I know the road ahead will be challenging but I am ready. Next week they will let me know the exact date that I will be starting. Did I say It is a daytime shift? more glorious. I was ready to work night shifts! Thank you:) AN

Hi guys; I was an ADN student. I had to stop classes for family health reasons and find a job. Nursing First Job Hunt Assistance is very helpful. I have several places where to apply but can't help feeling nervous. I passed the Boards in Spring. I had classes until this summer. I am interested in Geriatrics. I would like to work in a hospital, that is if they are hiring or start straight into a Long-Term facility. I volunteered in a hospital for a year while in classes. I sign up into 2 nursing associations and ready to post my resume. AN community have been really helpful when I was a student, thank you for everything. Any input is welcome, thank you.

I love your story. We were told at school; "Think of your patients as if they are your family" but nothing hits harder than when your family is ill. Treasure all those moments shared with your father, I am positive they can give you strength and inspiration on your career. In my case, I had to talk to a nurse What is like to be a nurse? She told me with watered eyes "You do your best. Sometimes the result is not always good, but still you do your best" I have never cared for anyone. I always had someone to care for me, this was a new territory. Once I started going to clinicals, meet the patients, talking to them, help them with their basic needs, It was then when I realized, small help can make a big difference for patients. The responsibility of caring is a life long career full of rewards and endless possibilities. Good luck

I know it is a heated topic. It is hard to get to the point when emotions come afloat. We as nurses are patient advocate, we also work on health promotion and moreover we strive to do good for others. Well, referring to "Healthcare for all" I am not pointing to a single group of people. It can be someone with a moderate income. Then finding himself trapped whether to attend the appointment or wait because of financial worries. This was the case of a friend who asked me about the issue. I did not have the answer. I do not have the answer now. As a nursing student, I will appreciate your input. There is so much to learn! Thank you again!

To All Nurses: What are your thoughts whether or not everyone should have access to healthcare. We are working on a proyect. I have done some research. Hello! I am trying to understand this case, if there is a vent and administrations of an anesthetic, then the breathing is the mayor concern. If there is RBCs 2.73 due to the loss of blood then that will be the second mayor issue. What are the BUN results? and the assessment of family support?

Hi Shayboo; I don't know if it is too late to respond, but here is my suggestion: The main deal for a research paper is to find reliable sources, CINHAL is great, so it is medline or CDC sites. In your textbook look for cases similar to your topic. You may use some cases from your clincal rotation applicable to the topic. Make the correlation with your (EBP) research and you can write your paper. I have received help from allnurses, and I would like to contribute a little bit. I hope it helps.

Yes, you're right. Looking at the defining characteristics points to Ineffective Tissue Perfusion. Circulation is priority over mobility. It helps to think and go through the assessment data, but thank you guys for clear out my head! :up: Thank you allnurses!!!

Thanks outrunningzombies, my concern is total dependency to perform ADLs, risk for impaired mobility, risk for impaired skin integrity, risk for falls, and with impaired mobility the possibility to develop PE. Thanks a lot
