  1. I haven't accepted any travel assignments as of yet, I had a few set backs. But I do hope to travel to USVI in the wintertime. What department do you work in and have you accepted an assignment in October or just looking into it?! If you have accepted, what travel agency are you using?
  2. I know this post is older but I appreciate the info you posted mtlj! I am considering traveling to USVI hopefully this fall from Northwest US so I am super excited about warm weather! How long did it take you to get your license? And I am assuming you are an ER nurse since you mentioned that in a post?? I work in the ER so any additional info would be awesome! How is the nightlife there? Thank you!
  3. Thank you once again NedRN! I am thinking about getting my feet wet in either WA or TX. I am from WA so that would be an easy transition but I have always loved TX and have heard there are multiple travel assignments there and great medical experience. So, I am finding myself very torn over where to start. I know I want to go I just don't know where!! I'm happy you suggested Worldwide for Cayman Island info because there seems to be very little info on the internet and that is frustrating!
  4. Hey everyone I'm really hoping for some feedback!! I'm torn between Hawaii and USVI for a travel assignment. I definitely know I want to travel somewhere tropical, I would love Cayman Island but I know it's international and I'm having a hard time getting any information on licensure there so.if anyone has input on that also I would really appreciate it!! So I'm mainly wondering about big differences between the islands and any suggestions about traveling there (i.e. agencies used, hospitals travelled to, etc). I'm hoping to begin my very first travel adventure in August and need help!! Thanks in advance!!
  5. Thank you NedRN, I have noticed how helpful you are to respond to questions and sure do seem to have a wealth of information! Much appreciated! I am not the nervous type I wouldn't say, I'm nervous about a new place and job but I like the thought of it. As far as crime goes, I figure it is dangerous anywhere and I am pretty smart about safety and places to avoid! I am the social type for sure so I am sure I would love the island life for an assignment. As far as the TruStaff goes, my gut was telling me that there was some dishonesty in why they are not sending nurses there as much, because the recruiter did say "If you are serious about going there we can send you", and my thought was why would she say that after just telling my how dangerous it is there and until they do something about safety for the nurses TruStaff will not subject their nurses to that environment. Hmm....
  6. tsmithrn27 - How was your assignment??!! What department do you work in? Please share info, I am considering a travel RN assignment hopefully this year. Suggestions? I have heard it is dangerous there, TruStaf recruiter said they don't send many nurses there because of safety issues but I'm skeptical of this. Do you plan on doing another travel assignment there? wylie-coyote - Have you accepted an assignment to VI??
  7. Does anyone work with any awesome recruiters and/or agencies you would recommend?! I have spoken to sooooo many but don't know who I want to sign up with yet!
  8. Glad to hear feeling scared is normal!! I'm from north central WA and very familiar with Seattle..great pay there! What agency did you choose imanedrn? Thank you everyone for the advice! I'm beginning to realize how important a great recruiter is! I don't want to be taken advantage of!!
  9. Hi everyone! I'm new to this site, figured some of you may have some valuable advice and insight on travel nursing. I have been an RN for almost 6 years and I most recently have ER experience and am looking into traveling to different ER assignments. The number of agencies and opportunities are a little overwhelming so does anyone have advice for where to start? Any recommendations for agencies and locations? I'm pretty interested in the Midwest and southern US to start then hopefully make it to Hawaii or St Thomas, maybe even internationally one day! Thanks in advance for any input!
