  1. Did they say why? Will they have a 'make up' orientation for you all?
  2. oh as far as a pace guide - start with your weakest areas - and go to your best - as your mind will be at its best at the beginning and you will get more tired as the time goes by.
  3. Yes the whole test is generic - so know the study guide - if it is mentioned in the study guide it can be asked .... know conversions and fractions without writing them down...there is no scratch paper. Take practice tests - and time them like you are taking the HESI. You have a computer calculator but that is all - so take your tests with no scratch paper and a basic calculator - one that doesn't save one that is just very very very basic. Get your mind passed being nervous about going over the time limit and that is half the battle. Don't be tired when you go into the test - sleep well the two nights before - easier said than done I know but you're mind needs to be well rested. It is all very general knowledge - I took it and got an 80% on the A&P section and I was only half way through A&P1 read the WHOLE questions don't answer too quick - don't rush - breath and take a break if you need to stretch your legs or you get tired....go get your blood flowing again.... it's a long test. I budgeted to take it twice - this eased my mind knowing I was planning to come take it again anyway - I could relax and think of it as a "practice" test - not that it didn't matter but it didn't hold as much weight as if it was my second try. Good Luck!
  4. yeah this is what I was thinking....
  5. Ok new question for Lee Day - What is everyone wearing tomorrow? I don't want to show up in Jeans but I also don't want to be over dressed .... And there isn't much info in the email as to what to wear? I just thought i'd ask....
  6. If you go into your portal on the home page and click on "auxiliary services" then scroll down you will find the bookstore link - if you put in your classes you will get a list of books for each class. It gives you the option to print the list if you'd like too - there are pictures too in case you want to order them online you can know they are the right books. I'd give you my list but I'd hate to find out that different campuses use different books -that would be an expensive mistake.
  7. The email just got sent out today right before 1.
  8. it's good to know I'm not the only portal stalker in the bunch.... Are you going into the day or evening program Mamabearof3boys?
  9. I think with the holiday maybe it threw off the timeline - I'm in the Lee Day program and haven't received the second email either. Hopefully I'm not the only one. I also wonder how long it should take to change our degree evaluation to nursing so we can sign up. I'm just so nervous - I feel like maybe it's all a dream until I actually get those classes on my roster...even then I'll probably check it regularly to make sure (The figurative 'pinching' myself to see if I wake up) :)
  10. That's weird - I still had my folders and all my old emails - it was all there. I sent myself a test email though to be sure I was receiving them. I am a little anal about thing though. Good Luck- I haven't received anything about registering either - so don't feel like you're the only one. I look forward to meeting everyone on July 31st at Orientation!
  11. with the holiday tomorrow I'd call today they will probably just send you the email immediately but then you won't be so freaked out. Breath - and call the office about it.
  12. do you mean the email about signing up for classes or the email with the nursing handbook and paperwork to sign?
  13. I've been a SAHM for 6 years now - my youngest is 3 and my oldest is 6 - and going to school now is the toughest, yet most rewarding thing I've done in a while. Being a mom is great; however, the sense of accomplishment with my school is like nothing I've encountered as a SAHM. (that said - I wouldn't trade my choices for anything - BUT I do wish I had decided to get my degree BEFORE juggling a family around getting it) There are many more things to think about when a lab gets changed or something changes my schedule - it isn't only my husband - I have a 6 year old who is waiting for me at school and a 3 year old at daycare. Having the school out of the way will be a burden lifted - even if you have to take a 'refresher' course - it won't be as long as the whole program - not to mention you can work p/t or try and work something out with your husband to keep your skills 'fresh'. It also leaves you both (you and your husband) a good 'fall back' plan - what if your husband loses his job? He can stay home - you can work. Get your degree before you have your babies - things have a way of falling into place. I wouldn't rush having babies - a few years is not going to change your ability to have children, but it will set you and your husband up to always have a stable foundation - and your foundation is what makes or breaks a marriage. Talk to your husband - tell him your worries, and know that he is the only one who can honestly 'level' with you on this one. Good Luck!
  14. This made me laugh - I went out of town for the weekend with some girlfriends and one of them laughed at me and told me "It's like labor no one talks about it - but as soon as someone see's a pregnant woman they go on and on about how horrible labor was ... seriously? Each one of us had more than one baby - so no matter how bad it was - the end result was worth it." I've got this - My eyes are open and I know it won't be easy but I also know it will be worth it!
  15. Thank you - ALL OF YOU! I am ready - I just needed some people to write positive things about their programs - sounds stupid but hearing only negative (which is what it seems everyone posts) is a serious mind game! I've got this - I will be an RN in 2016- or i'll die trying! I've got my support system set up, I've got day care and back ups, I've got a wonderful husband who believes in me when I don't.... and I have this site for when I need to write "SOMEONE WRITE SOMETHING POSITIVE DARN IT! How are there so many nurses in the world when everyone was killed in nursing school?!?!".......... I GOT THIS! Thanks again - you have helped my nerves - NOW I am going to enjoy a long 3 day girls weekend! Because I probably won't be seeing girls weekend again for a while :) Maybe girls hour...but not 3 day WEEKEND! {and thanks for the advice on prestudying....I will take it!}
