Danskos
Going to drop my Danskos off to get stretched and see if that helps. Otherwise, anybody wear sneakers that you'd recommend for high in steps?

Petite Scrubs!
So I ordered a pair of Wonder Wink scrubs in small petite and I love how they fit! Length is perfect, they'll just hit the edge of my shoe and not drag. I love the half draw string and half elastic waist band. I got small tops as well but I also ordered one extra small petite top to see if I could go a size smaller; fit well it's just a smidge tight pulling it on...I wish It had a side zipper or something but so far I love the brand.

Danskos
I think I am going to get mine stretched out at a shoe store and see how they feel then. I have yet to work a 12 hour shift in them and I am getting mixed reviews. I see a lot of nurses wearing sneakers so I am wondering if I will end up going that route as well...

Danskos
llg hmm...yeah, I am wondering if I can get them stretched perhaps? I feel if I went a size up then they would be bigger from everywhere else too and i'll look like I have clown feet

Petite Scrubs!
slilly I've heard from a few other nurses that they like Greys also because they fit nicely or give you more of a formed fit. I'll check that site out, thanks:)

Petite Scrubs!
Calling all 5'2'' tall nurses out there!! 5'2'', size 4-6, ~130lbs (give or take 5 lbs depending how my week is going lol)... Where have you found scrubs that fit you length wise? I want ones that would hit the top of my foot, not baggy, and preferably draw-string? And the quality..

Danskos
Hello Everyone, I am having an issue finding GOOD, COMFORTABLE, and fashionable work shoes for long shifts. I have two pairs of Danskos and I LOVE the high arch because I have a high arch so it feels so good with that support...but, and these two may be the same thing-idk, I have a high instep ... high arch, high instep...same thing?? Anywho, by the end of about an 8 hour shift the top of my foot is KILLING me! When I take off my danskos it leaves me with a full indentation around the top arch of my foot. Literally an imprint of the cushioned part band of Danskos that is right by the opening of the shoe. The pain and imprint will literally last for days. I hate having this problem because a lot of shoes I have trouble getting into because of the high instep or because they cause pain there. I love the firmness of Danskos and the high arch but not the pain on the top of my foot Any suggestions?

Telemetry or MICU job offer??
icuRNmaggie Thank you for your advice! I am fairly new to this site and social media in general so I didn't really give that much thought until you and Beckyboo1 pointed that out. Thank you for that and thank you for your input on what to consider for picky an area.. I am a little bit of both...i grew up in a small town/country but have been in and out of the big city by entire life and relocated a few years ago into the city. I do enjoy both but I am getting so tired of living conditions here!! I like my space and privacy or freedom to park where ever I please without having to drive around for an hour to look for parking! I am going to take that into consideration.

Telemetry or MICU job offer??
Beckyboo1 Thank you for your input and the advice. Not my name but you're absolutely correct about the point you made. I thought it harmless since I've found all this information on this forum already but then again these days something innocent can be taken in a very different light. Thank you again, I'll keep that in mind.

New Grads at Albany Medical Center
Hi 11RN, I am going for an interview next week at AMC ...did you start out at Alb Med as a new nurse? I have a BS in Bio and ASN...from what i hear, the pay is on the lower end (~20/21 an hour) is that correct? Do you know what the night differentials are? If you did do the nurse residency program, what are you thoughts on the preceptor portion? was it a positive experience? I have another job offer in a small hospital, pay is a little more than AMC (from what I know so far) So a cardiac med/surg unit or an icu? I am extremely thankful that I have job offers...I just want to make the right decision career-wise and future life-wise. I am moving home to try to start saving money and try to put a dent into my current debt so I can hopefully buy a home in the near future. I really appreciate any feedback if at all possible! Thank you:)

New ASN grads that recently got hired!
@blondie1887 I completely agree with NY_teach about not making any major moves until you have a job offer. I personally have been in a health care system here in Manhattan for almost 3 years and applied all over NYC for positions, even in city hospitals with no avail. NYPreby won't even look at you if you don't have at least a BSN and even then I have heard that they won't even hire BSN grads that did some clinical work there through their schools and did well. I did apply internally at my current job to an OR position but didnt get the call from them for an interview until last week...AFTER I was all set to move out of Manhattan, AFTER I had already accepted another job offer. It was hard for me to turn down the interview (which i should still have taken and gone to at least for the experience but idiot me, I jumped the gun and declined) but the HR rep was extremely understanding and very sweet. She said to me "things happen the way they do for a reason. I wish you the best of luck!" and even went so far as to provide some recommendations on how to apply back in the future since I will be leaving the system. Like NY_teach said, there is DEFINITELY not a nursing shortage in NYC...the money is here, yes, but you also have to consider the living expenses. Me, personally, I have debt from my first undergrad degree, additional debt, debt from ASN school, as well as a car payment, etc, etc so I hated paying $1,400/month just in rent to live in a box and spend so much on tolls, gas, and parking. I am 28 and really want to buy/build a home soon and hopefully begin setting up to start a family in the near future. My family lives in the HV region so an hour and 45 min drive north of Manhattan is nothing really. I actually commuted 5 days a week at one point in the past and it was not too bad. I applied in Manhattan, Westchester, Rockland County, Orange County, Dutchess, Ulster, and Albany Med...so clearly I applied all over. I was so afraid about finding a job because of what the nursing students from my school that graduated before me would say, "it's tough out there. It really helps to know someone in the industry or facility." I have to disagree with that now though...

New ASN grads that recently got hired!
I applied to HAHV and have an interview tomorrow for a tele position! I'm nervous but if anything, it will be a really good experience for future interviews (if that ends up being the case). I also have been applying like crazy to positions through Bon Secour Health System. It's all online but you can check for status updates. So far, I must have applied to a solid 10-12 through that system and have only gotten called by HR ONCE so far (I was completely caught off guard by the call and totally blew it) I basically replied with all the wrong answers lol but again, it was a learning experience because I kept applying to more of their positions and 90% have been rejections. I did see a new update for a CV ICU position that says I'm moving along in the selection process so I am hoping I get that HR call again and answer appropriately...we shall see! I will keep you posted. Also, I applied to AMC about 3, almost 4 weeks ago but heard it takes about a month or 2 to actually hear back from anyone there. I was really starting to lean towards AMC even though the pay is lower (so they say) but I keep hearing really good things about their Nurse Residency program and simply for the fact that it is a teaching hospital so nurses get great experience. I may shoot HR an email later this week to check in...I figure I have nothing to lose...right? I am getting so excited over the idea of working on a tele unit. I'm really interested in cardiac so i think this would be a great opportunity
