  1. Hello. I am now interested in the nursing program in Memphis. Is there anyone who knows how hard it is to get in. Are you really accepted with a 2.7 or do u need a certain gpa?
  2. Ok! And I also asked about a phlebotomy program , but no one responded to that question. Thanks for the luck! I will let you know when I have re taken it successfully and got into nursing school!
  3. Yea, they're not combined. It's two different sessions. And I think it's worth a try at least. I don't want to sit out and do nothing because I have all of my other prerequisites. Those r the only two I'm missing. I never do anything special over the summer anyway so summer school is always easier for me. I guess I should have asked has anyone ever taken it before so I will know what to expect?
  4. I don't see a reason to not invest time and money when I have to learn the information eventually.
  5. Yes I know it is accelerated over the summer but at the same time I wont have other classes on top of it and I won't be in a class with 300 other people. And i will eventually have to take it over again if I want to get into nursing school. I know I can't move on to physiology that is the purpose of taking ap 1 over summer session one. THEN moving on to A&P 2 second summer session.
  6. Now that I know I will not get accepted into a nursing program this year because I'm going to have a D in Anatomy, I am thinking that I want to take a phlebotomy course next fall. Since I am not doing so well in this class, I don't want to go on to physiology here at my school where science classes are really hard. I want to retake them both over the summer. I have taken summer school classes over the summer and find them way better because of class size and interaction with the teacher. I have also talked to advisors at the school I want to attend and they told me that my new grade will replace the old one. I want to know if its a good idea to take AP 1& 2 over the summer? and if I should do a phlebotomy course and wait to apply to nursing school once I have replaced the D.
  7. All of the advice was very helpful ! Thank you all!
  8. @GabiSims well I know why I didnt do well on the first test. I was in the process of getting out of an abusive relationship right before the test. Perfect timing right(sarcasm). On the second test I really tried to study but it seemed like I studied half of what was on the test and most of everything that wasn't. That's when I talked to my teacher. And here at my school by midterm we havent nearly covered half of the class, not sure why they call it midterm . I've just made the decision to retake it since the school I'm hoping to apply to told me that they look at the higher grade.
  9. Well I've already talked to an advisor at the school I want to apply too. She said that I can repeat the class and they will only look at the higher grade. I'm going to retake it, Im just not sure if they will automatically deny me because I haven't taken it over yet.
  10. So I talked to my a& p teacher , and she told me that I could only get a D out of the class. I didn't drop it because I thought I had enough time to do better. Now I want to take it again over the summer at another school. This has made me very discouraged and now I am considering sitting out a year and just not apply to nursing school this year. Doe anybody think I could still get on somewhere. I li live in the Mississippi delta btw. Completing prereqs at olemiss.
  11. ok thanks! Where are you from? I looked up the pre-requisites for community colleges near me, and they were all half the amount of hours I needed for a University. I think it will be easier to get into a community college, but I am not really sure. I will know for sure soon! Thanks for the advice.
  12. Hello, I am completing nursing pre reqs at ole miss( a university). I would like to know if I dont get accepted into nursing school at a university, could I apply at a community college for an RN degree and how long would it take to get the RN degree?
  13. @dhart17 hotty toddy & congrats! Thanks alot I will definitely need help because I have already gotten off to a kinda bad start, but I've been whipped into shape these past two semesters so I'll be doing better from now on!
  14. Yes it is considered passing, but it feels like failing to me. However I still got the hours for it.
  15. Yes I do. I am taking general chemistry 1 and 2 this summer, and those count because they have a lab. Intro chem doesn't have a lab which is why it doesn't count. It was only a pre-requisite for my particular school. I think my GPA will be fine by December, so I think I am going to go ahead and apply just to see. Thanks for your help!
