  1. I was just accepted to the UNF PMHNP Post-Masters DNP program today for Fall 2021. I also attended a rigorous full-time MSN program at USF. We took 9-12 credit hours per semester over 5 semesters in that program as well. It would be good to hear from someone who went through the UNF program.
  2. Hello Amo 22, I cannot make any recommendations relative to weather you should work or not. I will say it is dependent on your ability to be flexible in your time management and maintain a strong academic performance. There are plenty of us that did & it can certainly be done. With that being said, I worked throughout my time in the program but I am in a unique situation because I am self-employed. Many of my classmates worked during the program, some part-time, some full-time. I guess it just comes down to your individual work situation. It is a challenge to work when you have to concurrently do clinical hours in the later semesters but it is doable! Hope this helps!
  3. USF BSN: 3.77 USF MSN: 3.93
  4. On-campus time will depend on a few factors (I.e. Full-time vs Part-time & your Concentration). I know classmates that commute from different areas of Florida (as far as Orlando & South Florida). It may be a bit of a challenge in the first few semesters. I am full-time in the MSN-FNP program so I had to be on campus a few times per week during the 1st & 2nd semesters. You should get a program plan with your acceptance which will give you an idea of the coursework you will have for your track. The first few semesters in the full-time track require more on-campus time for Advanced Health Assessment & Advanced Diagnostics courses. I cannot speak to the part-time track. After the core courses, most of the program is hybrid-online with certain dates that you are required to be on campus. These dates occur at least a few times per semester for live class & OSCEs (Observed Structured Clinical Examinations). Another thing to consider are your clinical hours. You will have to do 180 hours of clinical for each of the 4 courses with a clinical component of 720 hours (I.e. Adult I, Adult II, Peds, Special Topics). For FNP this is usually 2-3 days/week in an outpatient setting. The good news is that you are placed by USF for your clinical so you do not have to find your own, however, they cannot guarantee you will be placed near your residence. If you know a provider what is on USF's approved list, you can request to arrange your own clinical site which is what I did. As far as the DNP portion of the program, I am not sure because I am still in my last semester of the MSN-FNP program. I will enter the MSN-DNP program in August, however, my schedule will be different than someone who was BSN-DNP. One thing to note is that we all take the same core coursework and many of the same classes for the first 5 semesters; which is the completion of the MSN. After that, the DNP portion begins for those who are in the BSN-DNP program.
  5. I am currently finishing up my FNP at USF (Graduating with MSN-FNP in 6 weeks). I just got my acceptance today for the USF MSN to DNP Program. Future USF Triple Alumni (BSN, MSN, DNP) with a dual doctorate (DC/DNP) Anyway, for those who are accepted, CONGRATS! If you have any questions you can always PM me!

  7. You should be getting an email with registration info from your advisor. I received registration instructions and course plans for full-time & part-time on Monday. I registered for full-time track. I am starting the MSN program so if you are DNP you may be getting the email from your advisor with information on registration at a different time. They did change the registration process this year and it is now done through the schedule planner, where you select coursework, view schedule options, then send it to the shopping cart for web registration. Let me know if you have any questions.
  8. Nurselord, how did you get the course layout? Are you in MSN or DNP? Was it part of the email? I am planning on Full-time, but I woild like to know the layout before making the decision.
  9. Same here, but I received an email saying that I will receive my official acceptance letter in a few business days and to continue working through the steps of original email (Castlebranch, HIPAA training, USF Health immunization forms, etc....). I completed everything a few weeks ago.
  10. Which orientation are you guys signed up for? The 6/20 orientation is at capacity, so I am going on 7/11. 6/20 or 7/11?
  11. @MedCareerHopeful, BSN, RN, EMT-B How do you like HCA Hospitals and what department are you working in? Any thoughts on their StaRN programs?
  12. My kids are grown for the most part at ages 20 & 16, they are busy with their lives now. My biggest issue is deciding if I should keep my chiropractic practice open while attending the program full time versus downsizing & picking up some work as an RN at a hospital or urgent care center 3 days/week. While it does have its perks, it was a bit of a challenge running and managing a business while doing the accelerated BSN. I am currently in the process of evaluating all of my options and taking some interviews with urgent care centers and hospitals. I can always work as an RN and moonlight as a chiropractor a few days a week so I have flexibility.
  13. @MedCareerHopeful, BSN, RN Congrats on getting in the program. I am going to go the full-time route as well in the FNP track. To PM someone, click on their screen name which will take you to a different page where you will see 2 tabs that say "Send PM" and "Add Friend". You may not be able to PM someone until you have a certain number of posts in the forum, but I am not quite sure what the requirements are.
  14. Congrats Nurselord! I know the wait was killing you.
  15. @lwsoccjs, BSN Thanks for all of the insight, greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to beginning the program in August.
  16. @lwsoccjs, BSN Thanks for the insight. If you begin the program in full-time status, is it possible to change to part-time if circumstances arise? How many credit hours per semester are typically taken during the full-time study plan, 9? 12? 16? I assume that it takes approximately 1.5 years to complete the MSN full-time which is about 4 semesters, at 52 credits that would be approx 9-12 per semester depending on how many credits each course/clinical is counted. Lastly, what are your thoughts on working during full-time study? I am in a unique situation because I have my own clinic and make my own hours. I see patients 2-3 days/week, but I am also considering picking up some work as an RN in outpatient (urgent care). I completed my BSN at USF in the accelerated second degree program and worked full time while taking 21 credit hours/semester. I know the MSN is a step up academically.
  17. MSN-FNP Concentration here! Is anyone else here considering attending the program full-time? Any current or past students have insight to the courseload for full-time versus part-time?
  18. @RN08021982 If your NursingCAS Application was in "Verified" status, then it was completed and submitted to USF. I believe that they review, interview, and admit on a rolling basis which is why you read that some of us have gotten acceptance while others have interviewed and are still waiting for an answer. I finished my application for the MSN-FNP program on 2/4/18, it was "verified" on 2/13/18, and I was selected for interview on 2/21/18. When I interviewed (Mid-March) I was told that the definite admits would hear back within a few days after spring break & the rest of the admission decisions would hear back after the last group of interviews by mid-April. I received my recommendation for admission on 3/26. I read that some others that interviewed back in December were admitted as early as January. Did you apply to the MSN or DNP program? I read a post earlier in the forum that someone called to speak with a program advisor about their status, but had not received an interview at the time either. With your GPA, experience, leadership, and volunteerism, I don't understand why you haven't heard anything yet or at the very least been contacted for an interview. (Especially since you are a current USF Student). Perhaps you should make a phone call to an admissions advisor. I hope you find some answers, Best of luck to you!
  19. I live in Pinellas County, Seminole, Fl (Clearwater Area). I'm about 40 min from campus on a good day. It's all about hitting the sweet spots in traffic on the Howard Franklin & 275.
  20. Congrats, See you in June for orientation.
  21. I am probably going to go full-time, that is the plan as of the moment.
  22. Congrats! Not sure what class schedule will be like. Are you planning on attending full-time or part-time?
  23. Looking forward to it! Let me know if you have any questions about USF and the process prior to orientation. I am very familiar with everything as I just graduated from their BSN program in December. The process was the same with regards to the health account, email, castlebranch, etc... Let me know if you start the Facebook group and I look forward to meeting you on 6/20.
  24. That is what we did for the USF BSN, someone from the message board started a private Facebook group and sent out the link via allnurses. Then once we were at orientation everyone else joined the group.
  25. I just received my admission to the MSN FNP Program today! Interviewed on 03/12/18. I Accepted the offer for admission and the rest is history. Now I can decompress for the next few months before jumping back into school mode.
