fail
Ok who's policy says teacher or nurse may check? Is it the school's policy or the facilities' policy? If it is the school's policy she can not fail you for not having her personally check (if that is indeed why she is saying you failed) and you can take legal action if she try's to push it after you show her the policy that says either one is ok. Actually the step after that if she is still pushing for you to fail because she wasn't the one to check before you gave the meds, is to arrange a meeting between you, the instructor, and the program director. After THAT would be time to take legal action if they are blatantly disregarding their own policy. If there is no other way for you to get the meds than for the instructor or the nurse to get them for you then one of them has to have checked because they bloody well got them for you in the first place. Whatever happens, know that in the future, it is considered common curtesy to have the person who's license is at stake be the one to check until they tell you they feel you are competent enough to do it with just the nurse.

Didnt attemp CPR to a rigor mortis patient
I'd have to say your coworker is very safe from a legal stand point. I worry that the administrators for your facility care more about their policy than the patient's wishes. I would tell your coworker to make sure she performs exceptionally well for a few months in case they look to fire her. Also if they DO fire her, she can file a wrongful termination suit on the bases of a) there was a DNR which means it is at that point ILLEGAL to perform CPR (it becomes a battery charge) and b) the patient was well beyond CPR to begin with. However from a legal stand point the admin and doc are correct, your friend is not the one to decide no CPR as she has not been trained to a level to be able to legally recognize how far gone a patient is or if one of their conditions is causing a rigidity symptom. Your coworker is protected in this though by that DNR order because that removes her ability to perform CPR. Although I would review that particular DNR because some of them are more specific about what lengths to go to and CPR could be listed as an acceptable measure.

Help with VA application process
So I have been trying to apply to the VA for a few months now and every time I do I get my application kicked back as incomplete. I have been searching around for a walk through from A-Z on the process but have found nothing. Can someone please help me figure out what to do? Also I just recently heard about VA nursing recruiters. I live in California, can anyone tell me how to get in contact with one of these people? I can't find the phone numbers for them at all. I REALLY want to work for the VA. I am a former soldier and the VA has helped me a lot since separating. I'd like to give back and be a part of that help for others.Thank you in advance for your time and help. PS Just to clarify, I'm looking for specifics here. I'm not looking for just a vague apply and monitor the application type advice, but actually how to it and what to include because clearly I'm using the wrong forms or something -I've only been using their online application or questionnaire, my resume (the one I use everywhere), DD-214, transcripts, and a copy of my license which as far as I can tell is all they ask for.
