  1. Graduated with a nursing diploma (3 years), went straight working into the ICU. Was trained to be charge nurse when I was doing perm night shifts, as I was working in the night, and studying in the day. After which I transited to private nursing, as it paid slightly more, and I need money to convert my license and do the CGFNS test.
  2. Thanks for replying! I was working in a 1500 bedded hospital in singapore. It is a trauma center too so as a SICU nurse, i have been handling those and have also floated to other ICUs, like the medical, neuro icu etc. I am really looking forward to getting myself CCRN certified, however from what i know, it requires at least 2 years of experience? Does that refer to working in a hospital here for at least 2 years ?
  3. Hi my name is Alvina, I am originally from Singapore. Gotten my green card, and have been in the country for a month. But I have been licensed in the state of PA since March. I graduated and went straight into the surgical icu. I was working in the SICU for 3 years. Have been promoted and been charge nurse during my perm night shifts while I was studying for my BSN. After that 3 years, for 2 years I went into agency nursing, working as a floating nurse in the ICU, ER and Home health private care. Have been into the P1 rooms in the ED whenever i was floating in the ED due to my ICU experience. & currently I am BLS certified, and should be (fingers crossed) be ACLS certified by the end of the 3rd week of october. I am currently looking for job applications in the ICU. I was wondering if those 5 years of experience count? Or do I have to apply for graduate nurses job application? Any help will be greatly appreciated. THank you!!! .
  4. Hi all, like my title says, I am a newly licensed RN in Pennsylvania. Just passed my NCLEX this march! I have a BSN, and 5 years of experience working in Singapore. I started my nursing career in a Surgical ICU, 3 years of great experience. While I was on perm night duty, I was given the opportunity to be Charge nurse. After the 3 years in the SICU, I spent about 1 year working with an agency. I was working as a floater ICU, ER nurse and also dabbled in some research nursing work for a pharmaceutical company for about a year. For the past year I have been doing private home nursing jobs. As I am soon moving to the US, I am looking at job opportunities. I am really keen to go back to working in an ICU! I miss working in the ICU so much. However, I was wondering, if any hospitals in the US will take into consideration the experience I have had, and consider me for a job in the ICU? Additionally, how is the market like for nurses these days? I will be looking to tell my BLS and ACLS once I am residing in the US. Your help will really be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  5. Thank you for replying to my thread. Yup that it what I am intending to do. In the application form it asked for my basic nursing education. Should I be putting it as my diploma or my degree in nursing?
  6. Hi! I am a RN from Singapore, planning to obtain a license in PA. I have passed both CGFNS CP and my IELTS. Now the last lap, will just be the NCLEX. It is my understanding that I will need to submit an application for endorsement via examination. In the application form, it asked for my basic nursing education... I had actually started out being a RN with a diploma in Nursing. However, after obtaining a year experience, i had gotten my Degree in Nursing. I have been nursing for around 5 years. So in the application form, do I put my diploma as my basic nurse education or my degree? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi, I am seeking some insight as to how I may go about the process of working in the United States, specifically Pennsylvania, or Washington D.C. I am currently in Singapore. After finishing my 10 years of of secondary education, I enrolled myself in nursing school. After 3 years, I obtained a diploma in nursing. I have been working in the surgical icu since then for about 3 years as an RN. Very soon, I am gonna graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accelerated nursing conversion programme by an Australian University (Curtin)! As my fiance is living in the United States, I plan on finally joining him and getting a job there. So my questions are 1) What are the process of getting my diplomas/degree evaluated? 2) Will my education and job experiences be sufficient? 3) Do I need to seek licensure from the specified board of nursing (Pennsylvania or D.C) before taking my NCLEX? 4) What are my odds of being able to obtain the job of an ICU nurse ( I can take care of basically all sorts of patients, except for dialysis, and ecmo, will they be willing to train me?) Any help will be greatly appreciated! I am feeling so overwhelmed with all the information I have found on the internet in regards to immigration and certification Thank you!
