  1. I think we seriously under treat pain in the ER. I have a doctor who I work with that orders Phenergan and Benadryl for any complaint of pain and it snows every patient. It is a pet peeve of mine that we undertreat pain. If the patient says they are in pain,then they are in pain. Who am I to say any differently. I just had to get that off of my chest. Any thoughts?     I use Vancomycin as it is our surgeons #1 choice for appendicitis.

    That is typical behavior of drug seeker so sad. Pt.s will go to any extremes to get pain meds.

    I am curious how your ED treats appendicitits. As a clinician I have my owns set of orders, but curious as to what yours are. My orders are as follows. Saline Lock,LR 1 L,MORPHINE 2 MG,ZOFRAN,VANCOMYCIN IV,ANC SURGERY CONSULT.

    I work at a hospital er where i often see a pt. Who comes in seeking iv demerol i told him after about 30 visits we dont carry it anymore now he asks for iv morphine he dont get that either
