  1. Hello all! Hope this post finds yall well! My husband and I are starting to plan for travel in the next 24 months. I know it's a long way off yet but it's never to early to get opinions and advice from my fellow healthcare peeps. ? I currently have my bachelor's and word in the ED full time. I also am house supervisor ofte. so as you can tell, I don take much time off. Lol. I will be starting my Masters in Healthcare Administration in January with plans of graduating in December 2020. I have many years of healthcare experience which includes lab tech/phlebotomy, Clinical Coordinator for a max security prison that houses 3500 inmates, admission/registration, billing, floor and critical care nursing experience. I love to teach and go above and beyond for anyone who may need anything. My husband has been a rig welder for over 20 years and we are gearing up for that point in our life to enjoy the world, one contract at a time. Lol. No specific area, just wherever the job takes us. Of course I know that our contract time frames/destinations may differ but we are willing to put our nose to the grindstone for a few years. Any advice, recommendations, opinions, thoughts, and /or experience stories would be greatly appreciated!!! (Please include the pros and cons/positives and negatives please!) Thank you in advance!!!! Christy...... (most call me Yankee ?)
  2. I am waiting on my letter requesting the $150 fee for the review process. To bring everyone up to day, I had 2 arrests, both misdemeanors, that were both withdrawn. I provided the petition for Declatory order, my personal statement, documents stating that charges were withdrawn and the cases are closed. One was in 1997 and the other in 2003. I am devastated, completely stressed that my chances of starting my program in August seem slim to none. Is there anyone out there that can give me advice or words encouragement? The BON told me that the time frame is no longer 4-6 months. They made a change this month and it us now 60-90 days which is good news. If anyone out there had had recent dealings with the Texas BON, I would love to hear from you!!! Thanks much in advance!!!
  3. Thank you for the kind words. Just keeping my fingers crossed and my chin up. :)
  4. Hello! I was recently accepted to an ADN program pending my approval from the Texas BON. I have an arrest record - misdemeanor charges from 1997 and 2003. I disclosed everything thru a declaratory order. My personal statement was very thorough. I attached documents from the public defenders office including a letter from the public defender stating that all charged were withdrawn and the cases are closed. I also included a copy of a recommendation letter from a colleague regarding my suitability for the nursing program. The charges were forgery and theft. I've always been the worrier, about everything.so this just has me a mess. It's my dream to become an RN but I'm terrified that the BON will say No. Can anyone give me info that will allow my mind to rest? I've been a medical assistant and phlebotomist for 9 years. I've had nothing since 2003.
