  1. Also, what laptop are you guys planning to use? I have a really old one that I use as a desktop (too heavy to carry) so I've been thinking about getting a newer/smaller one. I know some schools have requirements on the laptop specs, but CSM didn't list any. I'm looking for something budget-friendly. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Thanks for sharing! I'll check those out. Which clinicals did you sign up for? And yes, it's only 2 weeks away! Time just flew by!
  3. Just found out there's this site called Medisave which also sells medical supplies at a good price.
  4. Best of luck to you! :)
  5. That's good that you already got started. :) The DX is the set with clinicals in SF (first 8 weeks) and SJ (second 8 weeks). Driving to SJ is a longer commute but at 7am shouldn't be too bad. I'm glad I was able to enroll in my first choice but then again, next semester there won't be a choice. Lol
  6. That sounds good! I'm in the Pacifica/Daly City border, so we should be somewhat close :) I'll send you a PM with my info so we can keep in touch
  7. Yay, congrats! Were you at orientation? Hopefully you have your immunizations and everything in order, so you can submit all paperwork in time. Did you sign up for classes yet?
  8. Oic. I'm in Pacifica so it's still a 25min drive for me to CSM. If you are close enough to a freeway it should be too bad, especially since lectures/lab are in the afternoon. Btw, I decided not to take the medical terminology class in the summer. I just dropped it on Websmart so depending where you are on the waitlist, you may get a spot? I looked up the book being used and will try to review it on my own over the summer.
  9. Hi, ALee02. Yes, I'm surprised there's not many people interested in joining this thread. lol I chose the EX classes because of the way the schedule was set up, as I plan to work during school too. It's not set in stone yet, but I plan to work 20-24 hours/week to start with. It all depends on where my supervisor accepts that proposal (I work fulltime right now). Do you live in the area? Or is San Marcos closer to home for you?
  10. Did you guys sign up for the first semester classes yet? I'm in the EX ones :)
  11. Hi! I'm set on attending CSM. I got accepted at Ohlone but declined since I live much in the Peninsula. When do you hear back from the other schools?
  12. Hi, Happerstance. That's nice of you to let people know. I'm sure someone will be very happy taking that spot. Did you get accepted at SFSU? :)
  13. Hi, Alee02. I'm not sure how recent the TB tests have to be, but I worked in a public school and at UCSF medical center before and both required recent testing (6 months or less) before starting. I'm doing the CPR course at CSM, the Sunday one. How about you? I was also planning to take the medical terminology class, and actually enrolled in it (still deciding though). For this one you do not need special access to enroll (no restrictions, anyone can take it).
  14. Steph and Summer, Congrats on getting in. I'm gonna be attending the CSM program in the fall and won't get a chance to meet you, but just wanted to say kudos to you for getting into the program! I'm also a mom, have a 2 and a 6 year old and I know it will be challenging going back to school fulltime (plan to work part-time as well), and also having less time to dedicate to friends, family, etc. Just wanted to let you know there are others on the same boat, and that we'll all put in time, money, and sacrifice into this but it is all worth it in the end! Anyways, be proud of yourselves and keep working on your goal!!! Best wishes to you :)
  15. How's everyone doing getting all the immunizations, drug screen, etc done? So much to get done, it's overwhelming and we haven't even started school yet! Lol
  16. Best of luck! Hope it works out for you
  17. Anyone else going to the orientation on Friday? :)
  18. CSM is by merit (started this last cycle I think), so the application process is similar to Chabot. This is my second time applying and finally got in (2/4 schools). In case you don't get in this time around, try to apply to more schools. I do hope you get into Chabot or Ohlone though, so fingers crossed for you! :)
  19. yes, I'll be attending CSM in the Fall.
  20. Hi, Steph. I don't know if you have a preference of when to start the program, but at Chabot you'd start in the fall, and if you got a spot at Ohlone, it would be for spring right? I think you may be called in for spring (I just declined so you should be number #9 on the list or maybe even higher up if others declined as well) but it is uncertain. People have until the 15th to either accept or decline so I'd check back with Ohlone sometime next week to see where you stand on the waiting list. If Chabot offered you admission for the fall, that'd be more certain and probably a better choice if you want to graduate sooner. Best of luck!
  21. Yes, I receive an acceptance email yesterday around 1pm. I'm actually declining my spot so I'm sure someone will move up the waiting list. StephH11, did you hear from Chabot?
  22. Hi, there. I'm not sure how many are actually on the waiting list, but based on the top 90 being asked to provide TEAS scores, and 50 being offered admission, I'd say at the most there would be 40 on the waiting list. I highly doubt that could be actual number as some people in the top 50 may have declined their spot (and may continue to do so in the next couple weeks if they get accepted somewhere else) and the waiting list is moving up. I understand how frustrating that can be, but I'd say keep checking in with the department to see where you stand, and hopefully it will all work out for you! Best of luck
  23. Wow, it seems like there's a chance you may get in, but it all depends on others giving up their spots, it seems. Some schools have not send out acceptance letter/emails yet, so hang in there and best of luck!
  24. I'm waiting to hear from Ohlone but I'm set in attending CSM since it is closer to home. How about you? Where are you waiting to hear from? Is CSM one of your top choices?
  25. Don't give up! You can try applying for spring admission too. I know, with the lottery system sometimes it feels like it might take forever but don't lose hope, try to apply to more schools if you can and hopefully it will work out for you
