The giving report meme always gets me. When I was in nursing school and as a new nurse I'd be giving a ridiculously detailed report, down to the patient's genetic make-up. Now it's like, "yeah this pt took their meds, they're not dead, they good. let me know if you have questions." bahahaha!

Yeah! It was mostly because either the professors claim they were unable to teach the course but HCC still put them down as available professors! It was chaos. Also holy crap, that sounds terrible!! That sounds like my program except that HCC has no excuse since they've been established longer than the Houston Chamberlain program has been! Also, I think I heard someone as low as 3.1 was accepted into the program. I'm freaking out at how many of y'all got rejected despite high TEAS, HESI, or GPA scores. It sounds as if HCC just picked y'all randomly rather than taking the time to review each applicant. That's completely unfair!

that's ridiculous. they really need to get their program more organized. i understand that a lot of nursing programs have their troubles, but HCC's nursing program even waits until AFTER class starts to fix anything. it's really unprofessional.

Hey guys. I'm a current ADN student at HCC and I'm doing my peds/ob semester. I don't want to sound like a downer, but if you got rejected by HCC despite that you guys got better grades then I would think of that as a dodged bullet. HCC is ridiculously disorganized, there were barely enough clinicals for us as it is and even when classes started we were all confused as to where to go. The professors don't even know themselves if they are teaching a course and end up dropping out!! I can't even imagine how it's going for y'all newcomers! :c I've come this far in the program so I can't back out now, but if I could re-do it over I would apply to Lonestar, San Jancinto or another campus except HCC. The nursing program is in danger too cus not enough people are passing the NCLEX-RN (only 70%). However, if you decide to stick your guns to HCC then I wish you the best and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! If you guys decide to move on to another program, then I wish you the best as well. Take care guys!

also WHOOPS. I said mid May but I just realized that Pharmacology class STARTED in may. So ignore mid-May. You should get Pharmacology emails by mid APRIL.

Honestly, I'm not sure! But seriously, if you don't get a reply by mid-May I would DEFINITELY start e-mailing/calling/visiting the campus because I've heard horror stories where people who haven't been selected for Pharmacology don't get e-mails. It also helps to keep in touch with people here and see if people got their Pharmacology sign up emails too. :) I'd like to show you the thread for my enrollment period. I took Pharmacology with Rix and passed with a B. A lot of my classmates passed too! However, avoid Wilheimma Rich and I heard only 9 people in her class passed. And barely! Actually, they should contact you pretty close a month after you turn in your application. If you're applying for Fall 2015, then you'd have to take Pharmacology in June-July. Pharmacology pretty much determines if you'll be accepted in the program! If you don't hear anything by mid May, if I were you, I'd start calling/e-mailing/hollering and seeing what's up with the application!

So far, I really like the program. I'm excited to have survived the first semester but I heard med-surg is the weed-out semester so I'm not going to relax just yet!! They accept over 100, yes! But keep in mind that the classes in total have room for 60-80 people. So after you take Pharmacology (and passed it with a C or above) then get hurrying to enroll in 1st semester classes! They fill up ridiculously quick, they're not playing!!

I had the same dealio too. I had to take Microbiology and A&P II after I applied but I was accepted! So if you have one, two or maybe even three classes left you should be good. I am currently in the program. 8) It's my second semester.

HCC has clinicals at uhhh Methodist (medical center), University General Hospital and I've heard that for Mental Health they go to Harris County Psychiatric Center. However, for first semester you will probably go to a nursing home, and none of them were in the medical center.

To be honest, it may depend! My nursing classmates usually had all of their classes finished by the time they started. Some only had one of the classes left, but to be honest the more classes you've completed the better your chances!! 8)

This is for anyone going to the University General Orientation tomorrow: wear white scrub with black scrub pants!

Thank you for the help!! I was so confused and I was afraid of showing up in scrubs to the wrong class lol So for the first 5 weeks we wear the black scrubs, yeah?

Also, I am very confused. I thought the black scrubs were to be worn for the lab class, which I am assuming it's Fundamentals of Nursing (RNSG 1413) because of the 4 credit hours which only lab classes have. However, I am hearing different things. Does anyone know for sure which CLASSES we have to wear black scrubs for? Please help. So lost and confused. I just e-mailed Wooten and McClinton asking the same thing. I would appreciate any help!!

noooo! i have friends who tell me they bought their uniform at other places. you do have to get the patches from the discount uniform store since the uniform requires the patches! the only things i bought from that store was the patches and the shoes. i got the scrubs for $5 a piece from sharpstown mall. i have heard however,that you can get other similar looking shoes elsewhere. the cherokee robins they showed us are $55 at the store and i couldn't find them cheaper online.

Oh my god, those shoes are expensive. They were like $55 at the Discount Uniform Corp that they sent us to. I tried looking at ebay but honestly they were all around the same price or more expensive. :/ I bought the scrubs at Uniform Superstore though. I just bought the patches off the store. c: Scrubs are scrubs! I'm just glad we get black scrub pants because imagine sitting on a dirty seat and having your pants ruined for the rest of the day. Did anyone go to the store and get the full list of whatever it is we need?
