  1. hi all. Im a new grad nurse and have started working for a month now. I feel like im not performing as well as others and I feel like im not competent enough as an RN . For instance, when I do handover, i get nervous and tend to forget things. Thus my senior RN needs to fill up the things that I miss. Is anyone feeling the same thing or im just super paranoid about my performance ?
  2. hi. Im doing a casestudy for my assignment involving potential post-op complications for thyroidectomy. If a patient is having a post-op bleeding, I would intentionally open the surgical incision, ensure that they are in 30-45degree position and administer 6L of oxygen via hudson's mask ? I just want to confirm ... Thanks
  3. thank you soo much for answering my question. I appreciate the help :)
  4. Hi. Im a student nurse doing my placement at OT. I noticed that my nurse buddy placed the cuff up side down. That is, the hose is not facing downward and does not face the brachial artery. Instead the nurse places the hose towards the face of the patient.. Is this common in OT and why do they do that ? i forgot to asked my nurse buddy as the OT got busy. Thanks
  5. i see... thank you for the advices :)
  6. hi guys. my exams are coming up and i was just wondering if you could share any sample nursing exam papers from your uni/college/etc . I would really appreciate it as my school doesnt give us any past exam papers to practice on. topic that im looking for revolves around high acute/critical care in nursing, cardiac rhythms, etc . thanks in advance
  7. to all the people that commented on my post, thank you soo much. I feel so much better with all your encouraging comments. Maybe I am being too hard to myself... but i will ensure that I make most of my clinical placements. i did pass my emergency placement btw :) and also had a great day (practiced my questioning skills to patients) :)
  8. Im in my final year of nursing school and been placed in the emergency ward. Every time I start my shift I just feel like im not functioning in a level of a final year student. I really have a hard time in doing my assessments (eg. head to toe, comprehensive assessment). For instance, when a patient presents in the emergency, eg. category 2 with shortness of breath, I feel lost in what type of questions to ask and how to put the puzzle in together. I really like nursing, but because I lack in my strategies in how 'to paint and explore the patient's condition', im loosing my confidence and my drive to continue nursing. does anybody have this same feeling or am I just not competent and dumb?
