  1. Go for it if this is what you really want to do. Debt sucks but that's life. You'll be ok no matter what you choose.
  2. I agree with Johsonmichelle. Keep it off. There is no reason to mention it especially since it was during your orientation period. I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I had a similar experience and it sucks but, you'll be fine. Just keep moving forward.
  3. Yes! Thank goodness! My HR rep just told me this morning that Nurses are exempt and I'm so relieved . Thanks!
  4. Anyone on here from Oregon and being affected by the hiring freeze? No news on my end yet. Still waiting.
  5. Thanks, xkc3158. When they had the freeze in 2012, a fellow RN said his job was on hiatus for 3 months. Not sure if this will be similar or not. I just hate all of the not knowing and waiting.
  6. Yes. I was given a tentative offer about a month and a half ago pending all of the paper work and pre-employment physical. I went into to talk with HR today and get fingerprints and she told me that due to the hiring freeze she can not tell me when I will be able to start work at th VA and all we can do is wait at this point. Nurses and all medical professionals are being affected. She said she had to call other nurses, docs ... from other states and tell them the news and they weren' t happy but, it's out of their hands right now. Super frustrating and disheartening.
  7. Just an FYI... I got a rejection email today. Good luck to you!
  8. Did you apply for any specific specialty? Let me know if you get a call. Thanks!
  9. Nothing on my end yet. I was hoping to hear back from them last week but I'm hopeful we will hopefully hear back from them by tomorrow or by the end of the week.
  10. Thanks! The most recent one I can find is from 2013, I wonder if this is up-to-date? Thank you for your time.
  11. Thanks for your positive energy and encouragement! I am battling between this and a NEW Grad Residency Program...I am also learning that the VA hiring process takes FOREVER. I am excited to move forward. Cheers!
  12. Wowsers! Thanks for your response. We will see how it goes...
  13. Hello, I was offered a position at the VA (surgical unit- transplant, cardiac tele). I was wondering if anyone has any experience working at the VA or knows of anyone who has? The whole salary thing is odd. I am not even sure what a new grad nurse starts at yet? Anyways, I hear it is a great place to work once you get used to it. Plus, the loan forgiveness aspect is a bonus. Thank you for your time.
  14. Did anyone apply for the Providence Oregon NEW GRAD Residency 2017? I was recently asked to provide them references and I haven't even been invited to an in- person interview yet, interesting... They said this is part of their selection process and if they like what they see then I will get invited to interview for Jan. the 9th. I hear Providence is great organization to work for.
  15. Hello, I was just curious if anyone know's how much Kaiser pays their new grad nurses. What are the differentials? Do you like working for this organization? Thanks!
