Hi, I hoping to get some advice. I am a qualified RN and completed my training in the UK. I also spent some time in Australia and am registered there. I have about 8 years of experience between the UK and Australia, specializing in Emergency and Orthopedics. My husband and I transferred to the U.S (Houston, Texas) for his job and I have hit nothing but brick walls trying to get licensed ever since we arrived back in August 2013. I had my transcripts reviewed by ERES (company that specializes in comparing international qualifications with US requirements) to find out that I was lacking in obstetrics and pediatrics, resulting in the need for me to take "make up" courses in these subjects and obtain clinical experience before I can be eligible to sit the NCLEX exam, and ultimately apply for a Texas nursing license. Unfortunately, ERES were unable to offer any advice on how to do this , other than recommending that I contact the Texas Board of Nursing. I have no problem taking these classes and obtaining the clinical experience, but after hours and hours of research and countless phone calls I cannot find a college that offers this service. It is the full three years or they do not seem interested. I have tried time and time again to get in touch with the Texas Nursing Board to get their advice but they do not reply to my emails and their phone line is forever engaged. I am so frustrated and really just want to get back to work, but with every turn I seem to be met with a dead end. If anyone can help or offer some advice I would be so appreciative. Thanks Emma.
