  1. I'm looking for TEAS V scores, I seen one of you mention you had a 78? I believe which is above the average. If you guys could post what scores you all got, and if the director anyone has told you there requirements that would be great. I know penn state only requires a 50 overal.
  2. "Why I want to become a Nurse" Ever since my father experienced medical complications I was introduced the medical field, directly nursing. As a young child I found a fascination that the nurses, and other medical professionals were so knowledgeable with the treatments they were performing. As I aged I began researching different careers in the medical field and became interested in anesthesiology, followed by radiology and lastly, nursing. Fortunately, and unfortunately I was exposed to all three fields I was interested in throughout my childhood; allowing me to get a better understand of each. The reason I decided to go from anesthesiology, to radiology, and finally nursing is the enhanced ability to provided direct patient care. Nurses are afforded the opportunity to enrich the patients experience both on a medical aspect, as well a emotional aspect. The ability to provide quality care on both addendums appeals to me; as a medical professional the goal is to nurture your patients back to health. However, if you are for example a surgeon or similar type of professional you will not be granted the opportunity. Graduating from an approved Pennsylvania nurse aide program, I have been employed by a leading long term care skilled nursing facility. I have been afforded the opportunity to help enrich patients lives one at a time; perhaps more so than nurses may. Despite making an emotional difference, I would like to provide care via the medical aspect as well. I believe continuing education is the best way to improve the care you can offer. As cliché as it sounds, I wish to help people. By becoming a nurse I would be able to help them in both a medical and emotional need. I want to posses as much knowledge as possible to become a excellent nurse, providing quality patient care. As I have already experienced I know there will be moments that will be tough for the patient, their families as well as I; your patients become your family as you familiarize yourself with them. I believe nurses are in a unique position as they have knowledge in the medical side of patient care, as well as the opportunity to assist patients in their emotional needs. Doctors, Anesthesiologists and other medical professionals do not always have the opportunity. Therefore, becoming a nurse would be a perfect fit as I wish to provide both types of care. Becoming a nurse is full of opportunity from a patient care point of view, as well as a medical point of view. The opportunities in becoming a nurse are endless.
  3. I am currently a nursing student working as a CNA I started working at HCR ManorCare they start at 10.25 without your state registry then 90 days after you pass your testing you will be raised to 10.95 and they offer shift differentials of .50 since then I have moved onto my local hospital they paid 12.50 w/1.00 shift differentials. Lastly, I work at a county nursing home and they pay 16.50 per hour w/1.50 shift differential. Still employed PRN with the hospital, and a full time staff member with the county nursing home. Some places pay really well, and sadly others do not. I encourage any CNA to try getting in a hospital, state/county nursing home. SOME private nursing homes pay well. There is one near me that pays their CNA's 18 an hour according to other nursing students whom work there as CNA's. So please do not think your stuck making 11 an hour as a CNA. CNA's I know play a very important role in any care setting.
  4. Hello, I am all good to go for an LVN program set for jan 2016 - dec 2016 after which I want to go back to school to get my RN. I was just curious about how difficult the RN program is compared to a LVN program.
