457 visa/AHPRA registration problem!
The cost- $3520 for a nominated visa, on top of all the other costs has us looking for other avenues. Working and living in Oz for a couple years would be fantastic, but if we can only do a long holiday there, that is what we will do. Thanks all

457 visa/AHPRA registration problem!
I am perplexed as to how to start the process for employer sponsored (457 visa) nursing in Australia. The Immigration and Boarder Protection Agency sent a very nice email stating that registration with AHPRA would be needed first, before looking for an employer/sponsor. The AHPRA requires a US visa ( I am from the US) WITH an Australian visa stamp for identification BEFORE they will issue the registration. They will issue a provisional registration without the visa, providing all the other application requirements have been met. They have stated that I must present myself, in person to any AHPRA office to finalize the registration, and the offices are only in Oz. Only then can I start looking for an employer. Going to Australia without the promise of employment is out of the question for me, and I would imagine most people. Could someone who has traversed this path please help me. Thanks

U.S. nurse Seeking Registered Nurse job in Australia
Hi Katye, Thanks for your post. I am 47 years old and the cut-off age for a working visa on the Australian government website is 50. Have you met other older American nurses? Where are you working in Australia? I am a fairly new nurse with about 6 months experience what do you think my chances of obtaining employment in OZ are, and can you recommend an agency? My husband spent time in Australia many years ago and we would love to spend a few years there. Thanks very much for your help. Chuckyart2

U.S. nurse Seeking Registered Nurse job in Australia
Hi, I'm a registered nurse (Bachelor of Science RN) from the U.S. seeking a job in Australia. I'm > 30 years old and am a relatively new nurse. Does anyone have advice on how to get started with the process? Do they have an NCLEX type exam for foreign nurses to take? Do I need to connect with a hospital for sponsorship? Does the government keep a pool of applicants and help channel them to hospitals? I'd love some advice. Thanks for any help!!!!!
