  1. Hello!I am currently an LVN student at Northwest College, I'll be graduated in November of this year (2016) My plan was to work in home health care after I get my license and apply for LBCC's RN program. I attended LBCC back in 2009 for one semester, and ended up being on Academic Probation (I was a whimsical teenager at the time) I plan on re-enrolling, and taking their pre requisites to their RN program. My question is this: will my past GPA affect my future GPA and affect my chances of getting into their program? The courses I took were just general courses (Psych 101, History 101, and Cultural Anthropology). It will have been roughly 7 years since I attended school there. Thanks for your input! Also if anyone has/is currently attending there, did you find it was a good program?
  2. I have thought about programs outside of CA, but I believe I will be staying here for the time being. Are there better programs outside of the state? I know the job situation is probably a lot better. And I will keep you posted! :)
  3. That's very assuring to hear! It sounds like you are doing what I want to do as well... The program I am in is about $30k as well but I was able to get some FAFSA aid as well as using money I saved up so I believe it will be worth it. It's also nice to not be on a waiting list for sure. I wish you luck with your future endeavors! And I hope you get into your PA program as well!
  4. Thank you! And the program is a little over a year long, 15 months to be precise. And yeah, it's an accelerated program like most, if not all, LVN programs. This school assured me (and I was shown statistics) that they had a 90% success rate with their students passing the NCLEX. You also begin clinicals after the first month of studies. I wish you you all the best as well, I hope you get in! May your journey be wonderful :)
  5. Hello everyone! I will be starting an LVN program in a little under two weeks at Northwest College in Long Beach. I've always considered nursing as a career, but was deterred by the competitiveness and how long it actually takes to be admitted into an RN program, especially in California where I reside. It also doesn't help that I've dragged my feet for so long... With that being said, I know that you need to work hard in everything that you do, as good things come to those who work for it! I just really saw getting an LVN as a great way to get my feet wet, and have future plans to do a bridge program for an LVN to RN after I work for a couple of years. Bottom line: I've always wanted to help people and make a real impact in their lives, which nursing is great for. Has anyone been in the same position as me? If so, do you have any tips, words of wisdom, or constructive criticism? Thank you in advance! :)
