i already talked to one of cno representatives and they told me there really isnt that required number of hours to maintain my membership... i dont know how that works but i never bothered asking for details

problem is i have a 9-5 minimum wage job... i asked them if i should quit my job and stick to health care job but both of them told me they cant guarantee hours for me.. now my availability is only during the weekends.... so i guess i need to just stick with one agency if im only available during the weekends? im just concerned they might find out i signed up for two agencies i might end up not getting any job from both of them,, im just having some problems landing an RPN right now because my license is nearing 3 years without safe practice...

i am an rpn and i signed up for two staffing agencies as i thought this is good if i want more hours of work.. but after a few weeks i am starting to think this might give me a problem since both agencies cant give me fixed schedule... im thinking there might be conflict when both of them start calling me for work... anybody here who works for two agencies? i need your opinions please... should i let go of one agency and stick to just one? by the way both of them dont know that i signed up with two agencies...

hey guys,, can you give me some pointers how to handle my interview with a potential employer for tomorrow? i was just scheduled for interview in a healthcare. im an internationally educated nurse with RPN license but without safe practice for the past 2 years... what should i expect to be asked during the interview? and how should i respond if i im asked why i never had safe practice for the past two years? sorry guys i just want to get more ideas, i just want to make sure i make a good impression during the interview... we all know RPN jobs are very hard to find right now thats why i want to handle this well... all comments appreciated.. thanks!

the thing is when i went to the clinic i only said TB TEST because i thought thats the only thing there is... not 2-step TB TEST.. and when i found out fron the potential employer that he needed 2-step tb test thats when i called the clinic again.. is there a difference in the procedures between 1-step and 2-step?

hi, i hope you guys can answer my concern... i just got a call from a nursing agency then they ask me to get tb test before i can be interviewed...so i got one last week... when i called the agency today i told them i have my tb results ready. then suddenly they ask me i need 2-step tb test... so i called the clinic again to schedule for 2 step tb test... but the clinic told me i need to wait SIX WEEKS for the second test... so my question is does it really take that long to finish a 2 step tb test?? six weeks?? im surprised because i thoughy i can have it done in less than 2 weeks... i cant afford to wait six weeks for a tb test... i might lose that possible employment :z

hello there allnurses... im just wondering if there is anyone here who works for an agency and accepts RPN jobs and PSW jobs at the same time? and do you work for multiple agencies? and lastly is there anyone who experienced some problem regarding NON-COMPETE agreements? thanks!!

im actually 30yrs old. and i was a nurse back in the philippines.. got my RPN registration here... im wondering if 30 years old is still ok to even change career and go back to school again.

because ive seen some job postings for RPN on skin clinics and im wondering if its worth applying to have safe practice... anyway i have to check the job description again.. :)

..by the way.. does working in a skin care clinic count as RPN safe practice? sorry for too many questions guys... but i really appreciate your answers.. thanks :)

so if ever i sign up with an agency i should only accept RPN job then? because right now my priority is to get safe practice for RPN... i dont want the hassle of applying for reinstatement again .. i only have until december to get a job :s

thanks for your time answering my questions, :) i have learned things based on your experience well anyway i just need to keep looking for rpn job openings then, if you live in ontario maybe you can share with me some more agencies which i can apply.. haha. if i did not get a job before the deadline i somehow anticipated the consequences of not practicing my profession for the past two years. lesson learned. :)

is there anybody here who got their rpn license revoked by cno for not having safe practice for 3 years? what were you required to do to get reinstated? were you required to take refresher course and for how long? and which exams you need to retake? thanks for all your answers :)

if you guys were in my situation... given i only have 8months left to land an rpn job... should i wait or take the risk of getting the psw job while applying for more agencies and retirement homes? im actually anticipating that i might need to take refresher course because i might not get rpn job before my license expires... worst case scenario.

oh my goodness you just gave me the answer that really im looking for :) thanks. i hope you can give me an advice about this one... here is my situation: ive been registered as RPN since 2011 but i still dont have safe practice until now (i never worked as RPN for the past 2 years) anyway i called CNO and they told me i need to have safe practice RPN before january 2015 to avoid any reinstatement or revocation or whatsoever... so what can you advice to me? been looking for jobs for two months now but that PSW job is the only im being offered right now... i really appreciate your suggestions .. thank you :)

sorry but its my first time aplying forn rpn job in ontario so i dont have experience how rpn staffing agencies operate, and if i work with the agency do they usually require a contract like you have to work for them for specific number of months and you cant leave anytime if ever you found rpn job from other place? thanks for all your answers i learned a lot :)

an agency actually called me and asked me if i wanted to work as psw first because he said i dont have canadian nursing experience yet and said after a couple of months they can try to give me rpn job placement... im an internationally educated nurse and i did not practice RPN for 2 1/2 years... ive been applying for almost 2 months with about 100+ resumes sent and this is the only one who contacted me so far... i was thinking this might help me land RPN job after a few PSW work... i only have until december to practice RPN or else i need to apply for reinstatement next year.. whats the best thing to do? any advice? thanks for your suggestions :)

hi.. im just curious ... a nursing agency called me and they ask me if im willing to work as a PSW first because i dont have any experience as RPN in canada... the thing is im an internationally educated nurse i took the cprne and i did not have a psw certification here... is it ok acceptable for me to work as PSW then?? thanks!!

im currently looking for rpn job and one of my friends referred me to the manager of the clinic where he is working... 3 weeks ago i went to the clinic and gave my resume in person and told the manager i was referred by my friend... my question is should give her a call and ask regarding my application? is it ok to do this? im kinda hesitant because im not sure if making a follow up will make me sound like im either interested about the job or just being annoying.. please give me some advice... thanks!!

im still thinking which one works best for me... im planning to get a degree even if it takes me more than 4 years studying... because i just cant see myself working in the medical field for a very long time... i would rather leave it for those who are really passionate about nursing... i still have to inquire about the tuition fees and if i will be able to afford it... if you have more information to share with me i really do appreciate it :)

hi.. im an rpn but i want to change career... im thinking of taking accounting. i just want to know if some of you in here can give me advice on how to manage my schedule if ever i plan to go back to school... should i go school full time and work part time or vice versa? or is there anybody here who have succesfully changed their career while working and studying at the same time? im sorry but i hope my post is fine with most of the allnurses members... i know not many people change their mind and thought about quitting nursing at some point in their life and unfortunately i am one of them... thanks for reading my post... i appreciate all the comments.
