I am an LPN currently working as a nurse manager in ALF. I just got the job about a month ago, due to staff quitting. The raise was very minor and I was also put in charge of scheduling. This is a privately owned facility. Our DON quit and we haven't had one for quite some time. All of the extra work is being piled on everyone who is left. Administration is hardly there and I am feeling like I could be making big mistakes because I was never properly trained in my job and honestly have no clue what all I am supposed to do. I have been looking for other options. The things that have made me stay are the benefits, because I don't want to have to wait 3 months to restart benefits somewhere else; not wanting to learn an entirely new job because I have been working here for 2 years now; not wanting to give up vacation that I will get in July. I am miserable and always working. At home I am receiving emails and texts constantly and I am always thinking about work and what I need to do. I am overwhelmed and starting to feel like going back to shift work somewhere else would be less stressful. I was also accepted into RN school and will start in June. I am afraid getting a new job will ruin my chances of working around a school schedule. Help!
