  1. WOW! I can't thank you enough for this post HisKids37. Very very true! I definitely need to prepare in the cooking, cleaning and organizing area. Will do! I am just so excited and want to do my very best. And you are right about keeping a positive attitude as oppose to a sour one. But your advice is great and I will definitely take this into consideration... Thanks Jade M
  2. Thanks for your post and advice HappyParamedicRN. Sorry to hear about Daytonite.. I will look her up. It is so easy to get sucked in to your studies and forget about the ones you love. I'll take your advice and continue to be the loving person that I am both in the program and out!!!!
  3. Hey 1hopefulnurse.. So to answer your questions: 1. No, I did not have all of my prereqs finished. I am actually taking the last two right now, which are dev psych and nutrition. 2. The teas was fine. I passed lol. I think if you are studying right now for it there are a few things you need to do. My tips are as follows: - Make yourself a study schedule, stick to it and be organized. -Give yourself time to study for the teas.. I studied for two months for the teas while I was getting my cna cert and working 40hrs per week..CRAZY!!! Please don't do this. I passed but I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off:roflmao:... -In addition to the teas ATI book please find chemistry material to supplement the TEAS book. I feel as though the ATI book was a little to light on chem but covered the other subjects well.. -Please purchase the ATI online assessments A&B. They helped me soooooooooooooooo much. And when you do them write down all questions and answers just so that you can refer to them at a later date and time. And try to do these assessments a few weeks before you take the actual test. After you write the questions down study them over and over again. In addition to these try to do as many practice tests as possible -I also recommend purplemath.com for additional math materials.. I just paid for a one month subscription and downloaded all of the homework they give you under the teas section 3. I decided I wanted to go to wake tech in March 2014 and I applied after finishing CNA and passing TEAS on July 1 2014. I got accepted on the first try 4. As far as the application pool, during the orientation we were told that approx 70+ students are accepted and 30+ students are alternates. And they also stated that for the last cohort of students everyone on the alternate list eventually got accepted. SO even if you apply and don't get in it is just a matter of time until you actually do. 5. Lastly check out all info on allnurses.com - there are some pretty great threads that speak specifically about the teas and go into even further detail on how to study for it 6. Take deep breathes and no stressing... You can do it!!! I hope this helps ... JM
  4. Is there anyone out there who is currently in an ADN program (or Waketechs ADN program-where I was just accepted) who can offer some tips on being successful(on tests, clinicals, lab etc.)? After hearing stories from a few current nursing students at Waketech about how hard the program is... I am starting to wonder... is it possible to maintain a great GPA? Does anyone know of any study tips or resources I should leverage before I start the program on Jan 7, 2015 and during the program? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!!
  5. I wish you the best of luck McFlores and let me know if you have any questions along the way!!!... Also, If you don't mind me asking, did you survive the TEAS test? What was taking the test like for you?:)
  6. Aww..TuesdayMorning I can assure you it will be OK... Like McFlores said.. It is FREE to apply. And if you have decent stats you probably have a great chance of getting in. You just gotta take that leap of faith!!!:) O and forget the whole competitive notion. People told me the same thing and if I listened I wouldn't have applied. They are just trying to detract people from applying and making it competitive for them lol
  7. Thanks McFlores!!!... As far as points go I have 189 points. I am currently taking Nutrition and Dev Psych, which would have bumped up my points even more. The Spring is the best time to apply. I was told this in the Information session, that was held a few months ago. The point threshold is lower for people starting in the spring(applying in july) as oppose to any other semester. It was my first time applying and I had no issues with acceptance. So whoever is waitlisted or rejected, the great news is, the opportunity is still there because its not based on essays, references etc. but its based on POINTS which is great... i think the biggest leap is just getting past the CNA requirement and taking the TEAS test. I did both from April-June.
  8. Hey all, I just got mines!!!!So excited.. I was visiting admissions almost every week lol. They mailed them September 19 so you should have gotten it by now. Good luck to every one and even for those who are wait listed.. its just a matter of time before you get in so keep on trying and don't give up!:)
  9. Hey all, I am so excited!!! Just got accepted into Wake Tech's Spring 2015 cohort.. Anybody else out there attending this Spring??!! or does anyone have any questions about getting into the program(TEAS, admissions, pre-reqs)???
