  1. I took the exam in October. The only study method I used was a study guide and book that I got on the CCPR website (ccprnet.org). The book and study guide was $85. I found it to be very helpful, and I did pass the exam! Good luck! April
  2. Thanks for your response. We currently have no alarm system, and have not had one for over 20 years. We have some security measures, like different name tags, cameras, watchful staff, and lots of drills. However, JCAHO didn't like this very much and we are getting hit because we don't have an official system. I didn't know if that would be something you would come up against with them, so I thought I would pass that on. We now have 3-6 months to get a system in place!! :uhoh21:
  3. Our hospital is looking at installing an infant security system. We are going from a system where we use only staff and surveillance cameras, and practice our infant abduction drills regularly. I was wondering if anyone had any comments to share about the infant security system they currently have in place? Does anyone have a system they really like, or one that they wish they didn't have? We would like to purchase a system pretty quickly, and want to make the best decision we can! Thanks!
  4. I was a student nurse on postpartum/GYN unit for 1 1/2 years while still in nursing school. My manager knew what my interest was, and when I graduated, there was an opening. I took it and four years later I have advanced my career in labor and delivery. Maternal health experience would be the best way to start, but any hopital job that you can have on a med surg floor would also help!
  5. The institiution I work for is wanting to start up a maternal transport team, where we go from our hopsital to outlying hospitals to pick up high risk moms and bring them back. This would be done solely by ground transport and would not be done for patients in active labor. We do have a level III NICU and currently one MFM, with another MFM scheduled to arrive in September. I desperately need some input on starting up a maternal transport team, like policies and procedures, stafffing guidelines, CME for the team, community awareness, marketing, what have you! I will appreciate all of the input I get, good, bad or ugly!! Thank you all so much!!!
