Thank you everyone for your response. One last question is there any specific timeline to claim for your experience. Since I already started working on the salary that HR determined.

My employer has given me experience letter having hours per pay period.
  3. ien.P replied to ien.P's topic in Canada
Yeah I am trying to find out the starting pay based on experience. The reason I asked because I have 2years 7 mon of experience and if it is counted as hours it would be 3 yrs and with overtime it would be even more.

Thanks dishes to confirm. I read about this in ONA agreement. I have worked overtime at my previous job (more than 75 hours/ pay period), Does employer count overtime hours as working experience?
  5. No I didn't take celban because I passed my Ielts.

  8. ien.P replied to ien.P's topic in Canada
From where you guys did your BLS? Heart and stroke foundation offers BLS for HCP © and canadian red cross have CPR for HCP.
  9. ien.P replied to ien.P's topic in Canada
But BLS has two type one is for anybody and other is for health care provider. Here i am referring to BLS for health care provider.

My BLS is expired and planning to go for certification. Is there any difference between BLS and CPR-HCP? I am just wondering because I have seen hospitals here ask for BCLS. And it is necessary to do standard or emergency first aid with the these certifications? I will appreciate your response.
  11. I already wrote IELTS and waiting for the results. I am working so hard to complete this requirement and get my license. Now I am thinking to give one attempt of CELBAN too. There is one course for CELBAN preparation at CIMT college which is in Mississauga, however, I don't have any reviews for this course. Are you an IEN?
  12. Thank you dishes, I found these websites really helpful.
  13. . Thanks dishes for your help. Do you have any information regarding CELBAN?
  14. Thanks Dishes! YMCA told me that I have to take advance courses and they only have TOFEL in that category. They do it have ielts course. I also went to algonquine with my test scores and they suggested that i don't need a full course. They gave me option for one to one tutoring on writing. I found celban content easier than ielts but unfortunately there is no preparation material.
  15. I got 7.5 in all the ielts section and but my score in writing was 6.5. I know I have to improve my writing but the problem is the lack of sufficient time in the writing task of ielts.
  16. Ihave applied to the registeration meeting to exempt the language requirement on the basis of my working experience in Canada in the medical field and as a cashier. They took six month for whole process and when I got the decision, they reject my evidences. They ask me to give language exam before my practice expires, otherwise I have to start my application again. It seems like they are so unfair with some people because I know some people they got exemption.
  17. Hello everyone, I am a IEN and completed all the requirement for RN registration in Ontario except the language proficiency. I got required scores in other sections of Ielts but unable to to achieve more than 6.5 in writing(The required score is 7). I also explore other option like CELBAN but there is no online preparation material for it. I found good resources for IELTS and CELBAN, however they are mostly in Toronto and I live in Ottawa. I was just wondering if anyone can help me with this because I don't have much time left to complete my registration requirement.
  18. Hi!! I have applied for registration in Ontario. My overall ielts score is 7, with 7.5 in listening, 7.5 in reading and , 7 in speaking and 6.5 in writing. I scored 0.5 less in writing. This is the second time for giving ielts because of change in requirement in 2013.CNO says the score mention on their website includes 0.5 SEM. I don't know what does it means. I dont know what to do. would CNO accept my score or I need to give ielts again. Does anyone have any idea about this?

  20. I am a IEN. There are six books that I found good but I didn't study much from the last two books as I get to know about it later. I didn't take any course for preparation.I will recommend that while reading make notes of important details so you can review them in last days. Mosby's comprehensive review for the Canadian RN exam Marshall-Henty, Janice, 1948- Sams, Cheryl. ; Bradshaw, Jonathon. 2009 (its good to review all the nursing theory in short and also have question in the end of each chapter) Lippincott's CRNE prep guide Schow, Elaine. ; Murray, Christina. [COLOR=#333333]2009 (It has lots of questions for practice of Adult nursing, Pediatrics, Mental health, Maternal health and coummunity) Mosby's prep guide for the Canadian RN exam : practice questions for exam success Marshall-Henty, Janice, 1948- 2011 (it has three practice exam) The Canadian registered nurse examination prep guide Canadian Nurses' Association. 2010 (it has 100 questions and additional 50 questions in CD.this book is good to understand the format of the question and exams and also check the highlighted recommended books at the end of this book if you want to study anything in detail. Two of them I have given you below) Canadian fundamentals of nursing Potter, Patricia Ann. Perry, Anne Griffin. ; Kerr, Janet C., 1940- ; Wood, Marilynn J. 2009 (for reviewing skills and procedures ) Brunner & Suddarth's textbook of Canadian medical-surgical nursing Day, Rene A. ; Brunner, Lillian Sholtis. 2009 (if you want to read the diseases in detail)
  21. I passed!! Thank you God!Thanks all of you for your support throughout the waiting process. Now just waiting for IELT scores. Then I am done. I am so much happy today.
  22. Is there anyone in Ottawa?
  23. congratulation!! I am so happy for you. I am so tensed now..
  24. If we wont receive results in Ontario by tomorrow, then I will be convinced that 4-6 weeks time period is a lie.
  25. I understand how are you feeling, I am also IEN. I am worried because I found exam tricky and unexpected.
