Hello This is my first time posting here. I've been reading so many threads and you all seem to offer such great advice. I've been an RN a little over 6 years. I have my BSN and I'm half-way through my MSN. I spent 3 years in Med/Surg and 1 year in post-partum. For the past 3 years I was a Utilization Mgmt Nurse and we did concurrent reviews for medical necessity. Most of us were laid off about 3 weeks ago. On Monday I have a phone interview with UnitedHealth Group for a Senior Utilization Mgmt Nurse/Inpatient Care Mgr. Then on Tuesday I have an interview for a Care Mgr at a local hospital. I would love to get a position with UHG since it's telecommute and that's what I've been doing for the last 3 years. Is there any advice you can offer to someone who has been out of the clinical field for 3 years and has never done care/case mgmt. I'm really afraid that the lack of recent clinical experience could affect what I need to provide for these positions. I'm not 100% sure this is what I want for the rest of my life, since I've never done this, but I do know that being a staff nurse was not for me. I'm currently reading the issue briefs from the CCMC website to get a better idea of a CM does. And lastly, if they ask a salary range, I'm not sure what to say. I've looked on different salary websites and each median is different. Thanks!
